That challenge is pretty brutal. That’s been a red in other games. I seem to remember someone rolling over a ball and getting a red for that same contact earlier this season.
That was brutal. Deep orange.

Pretty much a legbreaker. Not too surprised at no intervention. They themselves have said they are reluctant to intervene on their buddies.

Broken record… All anybody wants is consistency. Mac was sent off by VAR (later rescinded), Jones when he went over the ball… It’s just inconsistent as hell at the best of times.

The fact it’s Tierney… Again… PMGOL can at least buy some legitimacy by not exposing Tierney and Liverpool to each other for awhile. Whether it’s innocent or not (and the data says it’s not), there’s controversy every time he’s near the team.

The whole front line in on that goal. I love the different look Gakpo brings to the 9.

That was a fun end to the match. Moyes will be gutted.
I think the long VAR break for the check of the yellow vs red let the Blades gather themselves. They went down a man but it felt like they were not within reach of an equalizer before the incident.

I just have to let go of all expectations for Darwin so I’m never disappointed & always surprised.

That second Darwin goal was a little fortunate, it was not really artful, but that’s consistent with what xG is - he should be getting a break or two.

I think Calvert-Lewin has now nosed ahead of Darwin as the king of xG futility at the moment.

Check out the highlights of Real Madrid - Almeria. The VAR decisions certainly favored Real for their first and second goals as well as a disallowed Almeria third goal.

I think there's a Carabao thread somewhere, but prolonging this interminable thread is thematically appropriate.

So much for Middlesborough's upset of Chelsea. 4 goals in the first half. The half isn't over yet but Boro surely are. Woeful defending, just traffic cones.

Liverpool draw with Fulham and advance to the League Cup Final on aggregate.

Last couple times Liverpool and Chelsea have played a cup final at Wembley it went to penalties at 0-0 AET. Hopefully we get a bit more in this one.

Fulham can be feisty but waited too long to turn it on. Exciting game with a good result. Quansah was pinging some cross field passes

But it did give us the comedy of Kepa failing to stop 11 straight PKs and then skying his attempt.

Holy shit, I pulled that video on my muted phone. I had no idea there was a soundtrack.

@Kliq, you have my deepest, most sincere apologies. Seriously.

Kepa is still a clown.

Don’t forget, Kepa was subbed on in extra time specifically for the penalties.
Yeah, that backfired about as spectacularly as it could. Didn't save any of 11 then missed his own kick to lose.

I doubt there's ever been 2 teams that played at Wembley twice in the same season, where both games went to penalties, and both teams had a different goalkeeper in net for the second one. Kelleher v Kepa in the League Cup, Alisson vs Mendy in the FA Cup.

Wild Barcelona-Villarreal match. Villarreal jump out to a 0-2 lead, only for Barca to score three to take the lead 3-2. Villarreal equalize in the 84th minute and then get two more in stoppage time to beat Barca for only the second time in club history, per the broadcast, 3-5 final.

Edit: see it was covered in the La Liga thread.

The Bologna - Milan match is fun. The Bologna manager and assistant have both been red carded after a theatrical penalty that wasn’t reviewed but was karma saved. Now Loftus Cheek has tied it at 1 just before halftime.

Lewis Ferguson better make the Scotland Euro Squad. If he's good enough to wear the captain's armband for Bologna i think he's good enough to make the squad at the very least.

Relegation six-pointer about to kick off in Köpenick with Darmstadt. I'd feel a lot better about Union's position if they can win this one, and against Mainz upcoming.
