Getting a jump to post this, a Christmas gift from my 13 year old daughter. She’s got the bottle of a Toffee all right, I’ve done something right.

My son got a bunch of Topps Match Attax cards for Christmas. The first pack he opened had one of the chase Haalands in it and now he’s a fan.

Is it too late to trade him for another son?

My kids used to ask me what would happen if they became Yankees fans. I always told them they could still live here, just not inside the house anymore.

He asked for and received a Mo Salah jersey and got a ton of other Liverpool kit. He pulled a Mo Salah playmaker card, too. Haaland is still the first one in the binder.

I didn’t want to be awake for this thriller, but my sick three year old had other plans for me…

Chris Kavanagh may have the most punchable face in PMGOL, and that’s saying something.

I didn’t have a Chris Wood double on my bingo board.
All credit - he had a smart strike in first half stoppage time, and there he picked up a through ball in space, put on a 25 yard dribble, and absolutely clowned Dan Burn, who was immediately replaced afterwards.

Burn dropped into the hands-on-knees posture of "I'm gassed." Which, if Chris Wood dribbled around you like he was Mbappe and you were a mailbox, is the most charitable explanation. An in-form Burn just hip-checks Wood into the advertising boards.

Newcastle have been shattered by their schedule. Now that they've been bounced from the CL and the League Cup they "only" have the Festive Period fixture congestion. Granted they've been gutted by injuries but there's a good argument that the lack of depth contributed to the injuries. The sundry Longstaffs and their fungible equivalents should have logged some more minutes by choicre, now they have to by necessity.

If I’m Eddie Howe and I have a sub available, I get the defender that was just holding his arm off for offside off the pitch. Berate him mercilessly, then hang him upside down by his ankles in the dressing room to be used as a piñata. Play the whistle and trust VAR (LOLOLOLOLOL) to call a goal off if scored. That was inexcusable.

Bruno, on a yellow, protests a throw call by dropping to his knees and screaming. Way to be consistent, boys.

Are we sure Eddie's seat isn't hot?
It would be insanely reactionary, to actually like midseason sack him with all the injuries, but I do think the odds that he is a Mark Hughes style footnote before more fashionable managers come in are increasing.

Kluivert has to hit that first time.

Jedi having a good defensive showing.

And now Leno gets stranded 8yds from net, but Tosin bails him out. Yikes.

I’m not convinced that he’s blameless in the injuries. Did he use his squad properly in the CL? Did he prepare his heavy rotation players for the extra workload? I’ve had my thinking changed by Dyche, who has stated that he wants Everton to be the most fit side in the league and who have (up until recently) suffered a much lower rate of player games missed than the last few seasons. Squad fitness may be a manager skill. I haven’t seen enough of Newcastle to know what Howe did or didn’t do but I’ve started to think that injuries may not be 100% chance.

Really nice goal for Bournemouth. And Kluivert took my advice & hit it first time.

Everyone who had players at the last WC and is playing in Europe is being decimated by injuries. There’s no way to manage your way around players having a 6 week summer break

That's a huge factor and I agree that past a certain point the likelihood of overuse injuries approaches 100%.

Still - after Everton being at or near the top of the league in the past several seasons in man-games lost to injury - and being in or near the drop zone too (not coincidentally IMO) - it's a revelation that Dyche came into the season identifying fitness as a priority, training the squad accordingly, and lo and behold Everton are top-ten at Christmas* with an even thinner squad. Chance has to be a huge factor no matter what, but if you look no further than Calvert-Lewin, whom Dyche has finally gotten fit (if not fully firing yet), I'm inclined to believe that the manager may have something to do with it.

The keeper going in the wrong direction is somehow screened by Salah. David Maddock from the Mirror had it right at halftime.

He’s also moving to try to see because Salah is standing right in his line.

The first goal ruled out because of a foul was tough but I don’t have any problems with this one.

Maybe because we don't re-referee the game when it's against Liverpool but we gleefully do it when it is. Tierney is biased...full stop. And Hooper is nearly just as bad.

Trent getting admonished for taking too long on a throw when Burnley player takes 2 minutes. It's just silly.
