Looking at the careers of BJ Upton, Matt kemp and Adrian Gonzalez after labrum surgery on the lead shoulder, it adds a bit of uncertainty of what Bird can do when he gets back. Even Ellsbury, while he did not have surgery, he likely suffered a partial tear of his labrum when he dislocated his lead shoulder in 2012. Never did regain his power, even in BP.
I wonder if Bird can come back by September, at least to DH. Obviously he can't play 1B since its his throwing shoulder too, but at least he gets to see some pitching and not miss an entire year
