How can he start serving a 6 game suspension if he is not going to be on a team?

Very costly. That's a really bad break for Berry and KC. Sucks.

How can the NFL suspend the guy more/again for the same offense? Isn't that the same thing the judge ruled against for R. Rice in 2014?

Also, I thought players had to be employed and forfeit game checks if they're suspended. What is Brown suspended from exactly?

    Are you new here?
It's the NFL. The commissioner feels like he can do whatever the fuck he wants without punishment.

Well the courts have basically said he can.

Or more accurately the Union signed a CBA that said he can.

Didn't the court for the Rice case say you can't go back and suspend someone further for the same crime once the punishment is dished out? Rice got two games then they tried to suspend him indefinitely and the judge said no.

Also, how can an unemployed player be suspended? I asked because I do not get it and am not a lawyer. If Ray Rice signed with a team today, wouldn't he still have to sit out for one game since he was released midway through his two-game suspension?

If Josh Brown wanted to fight this the way Rice did, he'd probably win. But since he's not on a roster anyway, and probably wouldn't be for the next 6 games, he just accepts the decision and is available if someone needs a kicker late in this season/next year. There's very little advantage from him to be gained from fighting this.

He could maybe win a battle, but the league seems to be arguing that they got new evidence and are suspending him for different actions they now know about (the Brown thing wasn't 1 incident, there were several).
As to how they can suspend a non-rostered player... it happens a lot with free agents in every league. Until he retires officially he's a member of the NLFPA, a potential NFL player, and he is subject to suspension for the next 6 games he's on a roster.

Except in this case Brown will serve the suspension while NOT on a roster.

Janikowski and TB12 are the only two players from the 2000 Draft still with their original teams.

One other player from that draft is still active

Shane Lechler, drafted by Oakland, now with Houston

Ravens announced they placed RB Danny Woodhead (hamstring) on IR and signed RB Jeremy Langford off practice squad.

Who doesn't love Woodhead? Unfortunately, he played 16, 3, 16, 2, and 1 (this year) since leaving NE.

Cushing is getting 10 games off, maybe they are doing him a favor. Of course, he isn't getting paid, which hurts.

Considering you were shot down by anyone with a clue on Burfict's hit a few weeks ago, it would probably be best for you to sit these out.

lol what a hypocrite. How can Jones do this single-handedly anyway? Have other owners come to Jerry's call because of Zeke? Seems strange...

He's the ultimate hypocrite but I still support this. I'm sure you have good ole boys Rooney/Mara trying to push this through. Jerry Jones turns 75 next month and has a team that's good enough to win it all. He's going to do all he can to prevent Goodell from messing with that. I'm thinking that this only gets interesting if Kraft joins Jones but that seems unlikely.

More of the palace intrigue around Jones holding up Goodell's new deal. Wonder if this is more about Jones trying to embarrass Roger into quitting by forcing a huge salary cut.

Why do people assume that Goodell is anything but a reflection of how the owners want this League run?

Rice would not make a dime of difference, which she undoubtably understands. I don't believe she would be into spinning awful things more artfully to the fans.

Texans depth chart isnt exactly the '07 Pats at skill positions and he was a non factor and the WR depth issues (as of now) are short-term and with a potential in house reinforcement later in the year in Mitchell. Dont see it as a likely fit, but who knows.

And the whole Jerry is blocking Goodell's raise because he is mad angle is 100% Jones's swinging imaginary dick for PR. Goodell took one of his toys away and cut into his perceived power and standing. Jones needed to do something to "win" the perception of power back. It's been said by others before, but as much of a taint as Goodell is, he is a designated grenade jumper and paid handsomely to do so, though I think he has a bit more ego than his predecessors and some of his motivation is to knock down owners who get too big for their britches, particularly when the press starts talking about how they really run the league.

As to the bolded, I hope it's either sarcasm or you were born after 2001.
