It was a tough loss in the opener but the Bruins didn't play nearly as bad as some are making it out to be. It's gonna be a long series.

Let's just hope that Paille comes back Sunday.  Caron wasn't terrible tonight, but Paille on the fourth line is one of the things that helps set this team apart from other teams.

Bs played like shit, they had the intensity of a Sunday matinee, to say anything different is watching through black and gold glasses. If they don't win puck battles and make this a game below the goal line they are done.  They have more than enough talent to pull the series out but the effort wasn't there tonight.

It was pretty inexcusable, but Lucic did the same thing himself the last game against Montreal I think and nothing came of it. I'd be shocked if it led to a suspension.

Why let facts get in the way of people crying in their beer like they've been doing since the matchups were set?

Ah, the whingeing of a loss being the result of effort has begun too. Sports are the best fucking morality play ever.

Yeah let's just assume all faceoffs are equal. Win a center ice draw to start the period and lose a defensive draw on the pk means you are 50% let's all sing kumbaya

I'm surprised we haven't blamed the loss on small sample size yet.

No, let us untalented assclowns complain about the effort of people who expend more in a day than we do in a month because god forbid the other fucking team have any impact on the outcome of the game.

Christ. Fans like you grew like fucking cancer from the success of this town' steams.

God forbid I call out the best team in the regular season when they play like shit at home.  Do you even know what the bs style typically is or do you tune in for playoffs like most fans. Anyone that has watched more than a handful of games understands that was not a typical bs game. They were weak on the puck, never established a forecheck and never got a cycle going which has been the hallmark of this team for the last 10 or so years.

But please enlighten me on why you think they lost.

They couldn't put the puck in the net, Howard was pretty darn good. Their defense was fine, especially considering the subs in and Kelly out.

Calm the f down, it's only one game.

Because the other team happens to have a bunch of professionals, too. And they're fast and have one of the best three zone players in the game. And the Bruins were starting a number of players who weren't really much of a part of their league best record, have a few other key contributors nursing injuries and it was still a one goal game.

Is that enough for you, or are you going to spout off some more shit from your fucking Little League coach as evidence of your Bruins fan bona fides?

Also using the term cancer is as despicable as gay, retarded, cunt or the n word. I've got an uncle with 5 months to live because of that and if anyone said anything was a cancer I would go down fighting.  For someone that considers themselves educated you might want to reconsider your use of that.

The one thing I didn't really get was Julian rolling out the fourth line for an offensive zone face off coming out of a commercial break with four minutes left.

Not surprised that a team that relies on grinding shifts from four lines struggles with two of those lines not intact and arguable their 9th and 10th defenseman dressing.

He's been doing this since day 1 post Lewie. Sometimes it makes zero sense. That line had some good shifts tonight.

I can't believe you would casually throw the M word around in public. When I was 4 I left a GI Joe too close to the wood stove and after the extreme trauma I suffered I would appreciate it if you could show a little sensitivity and avoid using the M word.

I agree but if they play the same game next time then it likely becomes two games down and now you are going to DET.  I'm not saying the sky is falling but something needs to change.  Perhaps I was at a different game because I didn't see the B's team that skated at the garden for most of the season.

As a big fan with marginal understanding of the small details...could someone tell me why Spooner wouldn't get a sniff with the Merlot line if Paille is still out?
A couple of likely reasons. 1) Spooner is not really a grinder, he is a skill guy so he doesn't really match with what they are going for with that line and 2) he only plays center and that line needs a wing.

Thanks, that makes sense.  I guess I think of Paille as the skill guy on the line, so he could replace some of that.  But I forgot that he only played center.

I'm curious if they consider moving Soderberg to wing and having Spooner play third line center if Kelly is out for any reasonable length of time.

Well yes. You were seeing a EDM dman that was scratched for most if the year and two mediocre Pruins playing more than 5 minutes.

But Soderberg really came on when he moved to C.  Seems like there is more to the Spooner story because he also didn't play the last game when they called up the black aces more or less.  Odd that Koko played that game and Spooner was not called up.

Wait a second. You start talking about going down fighting in response to something I said, and now you're asking if I'm threatening you? And me making an offer?

This isn't quite as dumb as you comparing calling something a cancer to using the n word, Whitey McGee, but it's pretty damn close.

So what you're saying is that the season is over, and it's all because we didn't get Vanek.

It wasn't the same team. They need to play better. It could be worse, they could be down 2-0 and going to Montreal.

Hopefully no that everyone's sober we can realize how dumb this post is. Let's all take a deep breath, keep calm, and Bergeron.

I never said anything like that.  I'm saying that if they go down 2-0 and having to go on the road for games 3-4, it'll be one tough mother of a hill to climb.  Game 2 is now really important.

I've seen the sky fall before only to wake up and realize it was still there, usually because Patrice Bergeron was personally holding it up. There is nothing exceptional or morally disappointing about a higher seed losing a game to a lower seed. Similar moral failings often precede Cup runs. And by often I mean every season. Nothing is truly concerning until this team is down by a fuckton late in the 3rd period in an elimination game, and even then I'd still just assume they are playing rope-a-dope.
