Road rage killing. So senseless.
Road rage killing. So senseless.
Completely. One of those situations where if nobody is packing, everybody lives. There is probably a fistfight. Maybe the guy goes after him with a tire iron. But it is probably broken up.http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2016/04/one_dead_one_wounded_in_lower.html
Road rage killing. So senseless.
Low hanging fruit.Savage.
Couldn't agree more. There are tons of road rage incidents here in Seoul. Many times more than what I experienced in the States. Everyone drives like crap (is it a stereotype if it's true?) and they used to give away licenses if you could start the car and drive 10 meters, just to sell more Hyundais. There are plenty of fistfights and occasional knife attacks but everyone walks away with their lives intact.Completely. One of those situations where if nobody is packing, everybody lives. Sad to see a life ended over this. I was hoping when he signed here he'd make an impact. About 10 years ago I had a guy in traffic get out of his car and start running after my car with a large knife over a nothing incident. Since then I've been way more careful. People are crazy.Low hanging fruit.
On a more serious note, this is why it's always smartest to avoid road rage type issues. It's easy to be flippant about flipping someone off or riding their ass, but you never know who's behind the wheel on the other side. That may not have happened here at all, as some reports suggest Smith never even got out of his car, but it's a crazy world at times. This is a waste of at least two lives at least, over basically nothing. Stupid.

Regardless of why Cardell Hayes shot and killed former Saints defensive end Will Smith, the fact remains that Hayes apparently did it. The motive may be a little murkier than first believed.
Dubbed an incident of road rage at first, the New Orleans Advocate points out that Hayes sued the City of New Orleans in 2005 after police officers killed his father. Shortly before the automobile accident that resulted in Hayes shooting Smith and his wife, Smith and former Saints teammate Pierre Thomas had eaten dinner with Billy Ceravolo, one of the officers who shot Anthony Hayes and who was personally sued by Cardell Hayes.
Per the Advocate, Ceravolo described Smith and Thomas as personal friends. However, Ceravolo was not at the scene of the shooting. Ceravolo also claimed he wasn’t aware that Cardell Hayes had named Ceravolo in the lawsuit, which was settled in 2011 for what Hayes’ lawyer called a “large” amount of money.
If Cardell Hayes were merely seeking retribution, common sense suggests he would have simply shot Ceravolo. Then again, the mind of a person capable of killing another person isn’t always awash in rational thought. For now, the point is that either the incident of road rage carried with it a strange and bizarre coincidence, or that there really was no coincidence.
@Kluthfairy: Will Smith's death may not have been a random act, Cardell Hayes apparently did security for saints. NOPD is holding a presser at 1:15
Just about 2 weeks ago my project manager decided to duck out and get fast food for lunch, something like Wendy's. It's the middle of Scottsdale and he accidentally cut someone off. The other car starts blaring their horn and flashing lights, he held up his hands whilst driving to acknowledge it was his fault..."me bad " sort of thing. Anyway, the other driver starts tailgating and continues to berate him via the horn. After about a minute of this, my work colleague gets fed up...they stop at a red light. The guy in the other car is still sounding his horn and my buddy decides enough is enough. He gets out of his SUV and heads towards the other car to ask what the problem is ( probably not a smart thing), the other guy gets out pointing a gun at him. It was pretty crazy...anyway the project manager holds up his hand in a "you win" type of gesture and decides to get back in his car. The point being it escalated so much over something very silly.Low hanging fruit.

This morning (April 12), detectives executed a search warrant on the Mercedes G63 and the Hummer H2. During the search, detectives recovered a fully-loaded revolver inside Hayes’ vehicle and a fully-loaded 9 millimeter handgun inside Smith’s vehicle. No bullet casings were found inside either vehicle and no ballistic evidence was recovered to show that either weapon was fired during the incident. A search of the Impala is pending.
That's why you always leave a note.More of the story evolving.. Smith may have started the whole thing:
"Surveillance video released Tuesday shows showed what appears to be Smith’s Mercedes bumping into a Hummer driven by Cardell Hayes on Saturday night in New Orleans. The Hummer then pulls over, but the Mercedes pulls out and drives away.
Police said Hayes then followed Smith and hit the Mercedes from behind, pushing it into a car in front of it, which was being driven by a companion of Smith."

Yup, only he was a policeman.Gonna have a hard time arguing self-defense when Smith's gun was never fired while his killer shot him 8 times.
Missing "if", I think.Yup, only he was a policeman.
