The top ten list with audio was great, a refreshing change from the usual nonsense.

And I have to give credit to Mazz when credit is due; they've also been playing audio of Carroll explaining away that pass play  and Mazz is doing an impersonation of Carroll and it's outstanding.

He's got his moments........................

The top 10 (keep in mind it was more like 15 or 16 plays since they would say "here was my choice, here was Mazz's choice):

10)Bruins comeback vs Toronto
9) Brady hits branch on third down vs Panthers, SB38
8)Celtics--Pierce vs Lebron ECF 2008 (felger); Allen clinches game 4 vs Lakers (Mazz)
7)Shilling ends 7th inning in game 6, 2004 ALCS
6)Thomas makes crazy save in Cup  Finals 2011/Horton game winner vs montrearl game 7
5) Ty Law INT TD SB36
4)Ortiz Grand Slam, Det 2013 ALCS
3)Butler INT
2) Roberts steal
1) Adam V game winner in SB 36 (Mazz); Felger chooses Snow/tuck game, 45 yard kick

While 2004 Red Sox is best sports story of past 15 years, I think the best "play" is Butler pick.

The Roberts steal was game 4. We still had to win all those other games. And Adam V in superbowl -- if he misses we can still win in OT, especially if we win coin toss.

No single play changed my mood/outlook happiness level -- not to mention the legacy of two franchises/coaches/QBS -- than Butler pick. And yes, all the Pats hatred, coupled with the crazy catch (again) made it all the more important he make that pick.

Butler pick is #1 play to me.

same here as it is the only play that immediatly turned an almost sure defeat into an immediate victory

plus it was a phenomenal play

I thought I would give F&M a shot at 3pm today. In the 15 minutes I listened I learned the cap is crap and doesn't matter, but since the pats are a few million over they might need to cut some players??? Mazz thinks they should let McCourty go since he's "a B+ player" and isn't worth the franchise tag. /facepalm

Beetle brought up that there aren't a lot of good safeties right now, and that McCourty is one of the best but Mazz ignored him.

TLDR: should have stuck with Dale and Holley.

That's one of the issues they had yesterday trying to compare the sports, football is one and done while the other sports are series.

Felger's rationale with Vinatieri is valid, it turned the entire franchise around.

However, I agree with the Butler pick.

To each their own, Felger has thought the "Cap is crap" forever and by and large there are ways to manipulate it to fit a player you want/need.

Mazz is mazz unfortunately.

I don't blame you, the show was absolutely unlistenable (is that a word?) for a few weeks, but I thought it has been great since Thursday and yesterday showed how good they can be when they aren't trolling.

I thought they've been pretty good since Monday, not bad all things considered.

Mike seems genuinely happy about the win; they just murdered Carroll and it was deserved, Mike was talking about how he acts on the sideline, with the rabbit punching, the cheerleading, fist pumping, jumping up and down, the term "bozo" was used several times.

And he's correct, Carroll is exactly that, a fucking bozo.

Actually what turned the franchise around was hiring Parcells. He brought Drew Bledsoe in, made the team relevant again and in the process introduced the Krafts to BB.

But that forces people to acknowledge JB Orthwein.

Yep. The last game I remember being blacked out was the 93 season finale against the Dolphins (Pats won in OT).

I was there for that, it was one of my first games. Pretty sure it was January 2nd and it was cold as all hell. I froze to the metal bleachers...I believe it was a swing pass to Kevin Turner to win it. Or perhaps put it into OT.

Edit: Turner had 8 grabs for 61 yards, but none for a TD. Maybe he just had a big play late. 36 yards to Michael Timpson won it. I remember strangers hugging me.

I actually remember seeing that game on tv but perhaps saw the game on a Providence station, which wasn't subject to blackout rules.

I'm pretty sure they showed the fourth quarter or OT of that game in the Boston market. I was at my aunt's house in Worcester and vividly recalling that win because one of my friends at college was a Dolphins fan and I couldn't wait to rag on him about it.

Mike, talk me off the ledge! I am freaking out because I can't find anything to complain about anymore!! Seriously though, where do things stand with the draft? Do you see them targeting the O-line early?

Mike Reiss

Patrick, turn on one local sports radio station here in Boston, from 2-6, and I'm sure they'll find something to complain about soon enough.

Tremendous line from Mike Reiss in his chat today.

Kevin Turner was the win against Minnesota down 20-0 at halftime earlier in the year.

Timpson was the final win of that season against Miami.

There was also a win against Cincy when we still could have gotten the #1 or #2 pick (Marshall Faulk I believe was the prize) and instead won, eventually ending up with Willie McGinest at #4.

Last appearance of the season for Greg Bedard today, who will be missed. Hopefully, he works on his personality in the offseason and brings a little more life to the proceedings next season with the same level of knowledge and willingness to quarrel with the hosts.

I hope they expand Socci's appearances next season to two hours (2-4) on Fridays; they could use more competent third-chair guest hosts to cut down on the amount of air they have to fill with manufactured bullshit.

It was Timpson against Miami.  Was watching that one in a sports bar that had a satellite, which means it was most likely blacked out, since I was young and broke and would have watched in my crappy apartment if I'd had the chance.  Most of the place was watching Cowboys/NYG (legendary Emmitt Smith separated shoulder game).  But by OT, all eyes were on the Pats and the place went nuts.

The Kevin Turner catch to beat the Vikes was 1994, at the beginning of the winning streak that got them in the playoffs for the first time in ages.

Bledsoe certainly had his moments

Yes, IIRC, Drew had something like 70 pass attempts vs. the Vikings.

I was on my honeymoon in England and saw that game in a pub a few nights later (probably BBC, but who knows) in a condensed, "NFL Game of the Week."

I was 10, that was the first Patriots game I ever went to.  My father took me and my little brother to the stadium at half time and they just let us walk right in without tickets.  I remember a bunch of people leaving the game at half time (it was really cold) and the security guy just waved us right on in.  Great childhood memory for me.

That was my first Pats game ever, I was 7 or 8 years old. We were surrounded by obnoxious drunks and left at halftime and made it all the way to my uncle's pizza restaurant in Ipswich in time to see them complete the comeback. People couldn't believe that we had been at the game.

F' you. he showed back up again yesterday and I'm blaming you. I think he had a different "screename" or "radio name" or "avatar" or whatever you want to call "Mike From Attleboro" I thought they said he was somewhere else.

But no matter his location he brought the same level of suck.

I'm glad Felger is not running the Red Sox.
So is he. Responsibility doesn't suit him.

Felger making the announcement of the new Zolak & Bertrand show debuting next Tuesday. Reading from a concocted "press release" and feigning total surprise.

Another fun fact about that game: the Vikings didn't call the OT coin toss until the coin was on the ground. Vincent Brown threw a fit and they had to re-do the coin toss. Pats won, took the ball, and scored.

Pretty sure Bledsoe set the record for pass attempts that year. Think Brees broke it, though, a while back.

Has anyone else noticed that Felger is dying to say that Brady is on PEDs. He's been hinting at it for a couple of weeks now, "I wish I could get better at 37." "Must be something in that ice cream he eats." "Manning should work with Brady's guy if he wants to reverse the aging process."

I don't know if he's trying to get his courage up or what, but this is going to be F&M's new thing. Brace yourself for hours of innuendo and passive aggressive "theorizing".

I heard that type of innuendo all year. He also thinks (I do not really think he is wrong, per se) that everyone in the NFL is on SOMETHIMG...and he doesn't care in the least about this fact...but continues to talk about it...there is something about trolling an audience, but at some point it gets pathetic.

Its a stupid hot take, since anyone who watches Brady work for five minutes can figure out he's not doing what he does based on his physical prowess. He makes a break for a first down and the video winds up on YouTube with Chariots of Fire playing in the background.

Completely true, just like anyone could look at Pedro Martinez and see that he probably didn't do PEDs either. Felger got a lot of mileage out of that, why not take down another Boston icon?

Plus it gives him an excuse to call his listeners hobos and honks when they disagree with him. Everyone wins.
