I truly hope someone can help you. I'd hate to see less of you on this site.glennhoffmania said:Bumping this for more infuriating TWC issues. The internet speed in my building slows to a crawl during peak usage hours while during the day it's totally fine. It's essentially shitty dial up service by 10pm. After doing a lot of process of elimination I'm 99% sure it's TWC and not my computer, modem, or router. TWC admits that they may have a capacity problem in my area but I don't know much about this. Is it based on usage within my building? My neighborhood?
What, if anything, can I do about it?
One of my neighbors thinks it's that too many people are on Wifi but I find that hard to believe as I've lived in bigger buildings and never had this issue before. But is there something in the router settings that may help?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
If you are not the only one having the issue, tell them you want a TWC truck out there to take a lookglennhoffmania said:Bumping this for more infuriating TWC issues. Don't worry. I spend most of the work day on here.Yaz4Ever said:I truly hope someone can help you. I'd hate to see less of you on this site.
I did. They said I first needed to have yet another appointment and if that doesn't fix it ask them to escalate it. So I posted on my building's message board telling everyone to call and complain.soxhop411 said:If you are not the only one having the issue, tell them you want a TWC truck out there to take a look
Not necessarily. In high density living spaces like apartment buildings, often if enough people are using the same wireless channel (6,1, and 11 are thr most common) they can conflict with each other (basically creating bad SNR within your wireless network) causing the wireless components of those networks to not see each other properly. To the OP, have you tried hardwiring your computer to the router to see if the problem persists? If it goes away it may be as simple as changing the channel setting on your router to something less common (i usually have people change it to 3 or 9, something away from the common bands). Theres software out there that will tell you what channel wireless networks in range are set to so you can pick something that is free as well.Snodgrass'Muff said:The "too many people on wifi" suggestion only makes sense if it's too many people on your wifi network.
Use the remote. Duh.glennhoffmania said:One time when I was on the phone with a rep he had me hard wire it and the speed still sucked. But I'm willing to try anything. I'm dumb though so how do I change the wireless channel?

connect to your router via an Ethernet cableglennhoffmania said:Netgear N600.
Shut up, Yaz.
Yeah I've done the speed test many times and told them the results throughout the day. I used to have basic internet but when I threatened to quit they gave me turbo for free. It didn't make a difference.75cent bleacher seat said:Have you performed a speed test? Here's a link...http://www.timewarnercable.com/en/residential-home/support/speed-test.html.
What level of service are you paying for and what performance is guaranteed? Monitor the performance throughout the day using the speed test and provide those numbers to customer service. I had the same issue and eventually tech support came out and resolved the issue by allocating more bandwidth to my neighborhood.
I have a phone number for customer service at the corporate level...If you want it email me.

open a web browser and type your router's IP address
Your router will ask for your username and password (usually username: admin, and password: admin).
go to wireless settings and you should be able to change the channel from there

jercra said:Put your internet on the -3.5. Your STBs will handle the lower signal level better.
You probably dont have enough rf signal coming through that line to support having a splitter in that room. If you know where your other splitters are you may be able to reconfigure them to get more signal to where you need it.MannysDestination said:
I'm having an issue with my cable now because of a splitter, what should I look for in a high quality splitter? Currently I have a line going into the room with the modem and it's split, one end to the TV, one end to the modem, and both seem to be having signal troubles (sometimes channels fail to load on the cable box and I can get hiccups on internet throughput). I'm completely lost.
You don't need to pay more. TWC generates $20 billion in revenue and pays only a few billion in transmission fees, including the broadcast networks. It can afford to pony up without passing the costs on to us. All broadcast networks charge the cable companies. You are welcome to watch them for free over the air, but if the cable companies wat to make money off them, they have to pay.soxhop411 said:For once I am on twc side. CBS is a free channel that you can get over the air for free. So why this hell should I pay more for a channel I can get for free? (It's not like nfln or another channel that needs a cable box to get.)
I'd say very possible.glennhoffmania said:Is it possible that TWC is waiting to get closer to the start of football season so that CBS panics when the biggest market in the country won't see any of their games?
glennhoffmania said:Then fuck them. I hate this company more than any other I've dealt with.
They just tried to raise my package from about $175/month to $210/month. I told them to change it back or I quit.
