Ummm yeah like 100%. By rule it should be a flagrant since it doesn’t require intent but that’s the extent of it.You think he was going for the ball??

I’ll ask you this then. Do you expect the league to address this? If what you are saying actually happened he’s getting another suspension. I can’t imagine anything coming of this. This was a basketball play on the ball….if the league addresses this then he should retire bc he isn’t being allowed to play the same game as everyone else.Agree to disagree.... I guess? He couldn't possibly even have a good view of the ball when he hacks dude in the face. The ball is nowhere even close to Draymond's hand. This was reckless at best. And he doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t play the same game as everyone else. I’m not some huge Draymond hater but Game 2 in the 2021 Finals convinced me he is officiated differently than just about every player in the league. Every other NBA player gets T’d up for what he was doing with Jaylen and unfortunately Jaylen let it get to him and the team lost its composure (and the game). I’m not sure how this is remotely controversial.bc he isn’t being allowed to play the same game as everyone else.
Yup. When he’s right, he makes that team go. He does himself a disservice with these antics because it overshadows just how good he really is.Reckless or not….the Warriors desperately need him as they are a different team with and without him. He’s the ‘20s version of Laimbeer….who else has this approach? Grant and Nesmith at times, Bane, even PatBev has dialed it back. Nobody wants to play against these guys.
Not sure HRB was calling him good when comparing him to Laimbeer.. more like a player who is out there willing to do anything to win.. including hurting other players. He’s a bull in a China shop.. he throws his body and limbs into other players all game with zero care for other players safety.Yup. When he’s right, he makes that team go. He does himself a disservice with these antics because it overshadows just how good he really is.
Yeah.. my reaction to seeing that clip was that he was trying for an intentional foul.I don't know how anyone can look at that and say he's going for the ball. I can't say he was swinging for the face either, but I can say that is not how you go for the ball.
Maybe it's the swing that's the problem, and why we can't collectively make sense of it. From my perspective, anyone going for the ball there pokes at it so when I see a big exaggerated swing in a scenario where anyone else pokes the ball I can only conclude that he was more interested in hitting someone than the ball. And the fact he misses the ball by a couple feet supports that.
The situation is also relevant. I didn't watch the game last night, but it sure looks like they were in a situation where they had to foul and Draymond figured he might as well get a shot in.
To answer a question above, yes, I think he should be suspended a game for this. In the kindest interpretation of this situation, he is still out there swinging around his limbs with no control. Until he can learn to control his limbs, which every other player seems to be capable of, he doesn't deserve to be out there every game.
The Laimbeer comp was in how he approaches contact. He is a very very good player that I’ve always said was the Warriors second most important player. Look at this team the three games since their 9-day layoff with Draymond compared to them losing 8 of their last 11, with 4 or 5 by double digits. For the +/- guys which you know I’m so fond of lol….Not sure HRB was calling him good when comparing him to Laimbeer.. more like a player who is out there willing to do anything to win.. including hurting other players. He’s a bull in a China shop.. he throws his body and limbs into other players all game with zero care for other players safety.
The part of the clip that tells me he hasn’t changed at all is how he reacted to someone calling him out on that.. typical bully reaction.
Yes, it was reckless. Doesn't mean it was intentional. I'm a Draymond hater but let's call it like it is. His whole problem is his playing with reckless disregard for opponents' bodies and whether he hurts someone, compounded by a big attitude problem whenever someone takes issue with his berserk style of play.Agree to disagree.... I guess? He couldn't possibly even have a good view of the ball when he hacks dude in the face. The ball is nowhere even close to Draymond's hand. This was reckless at best. Yeah, the rough play wasn’t even the worst part of it. It was the reaction to Vanderbilt that got me. He is very unstable and it’s only a matter of time before we see a real non-basketball play again. Not sure HRB was calling him good when comparing him to Laimbeer.. more like a player who is out there willing to do anything to win.. including hurting other players. He’s a bull in a China shop.. he throws his body and limbs into other players all game with zero care for other players safety.

Yeah if you foul somebody in the face with your upper arm, it's reckless and even if you're like "my bad" it's the kind of thing that will get you uninvited to pick up games. The additional problem is the reaction which if it was more of the "my bad", everybody would have moved on. I think the concern with Draymond (and many people I know like him) is that they tend to escalate when misunderstood and they destroy any remaining goodwill. Draymond will continue to act this way and I think you can't really let these things go for that reason.Yes, it was reckless. Doesn't mean it was intentional. Incidents like kicking people in the balls, that's obviously intentional. Here he's at least making a basketball play. If we're looking for the incident that's going to kick him out for a year, this ain't the one anyone is going to stand on. But I don't think it'll be long until it comes.
And at the end of the day..he gets a hug from Curry and nobody says anything to him about his behavior from the GS side so he thinks it’s ok. Shame he didn’t play when Laimbeer did.. when players would/could punch back and not only not get suspended or thrown out.. there wouldn’t even be a foul called. Not that I want that era back.. but Draymond wouldn’t be the bully he is if everyone got to play by his rules.. he relies on the fact that the other player won’t fight back because they don’t want to get suspended.. so he thinks he’s tougher because nobody punches back.Yeah if you foul somebody in the face with your upper arm, it's reckless and even if you're like "my bad" it's the kind of thing that will get you uninvited to pick up games. Yeah, that play was typical Draymond, where he takes advantage of what would be a normal basketball play and really leans into it to inflict damage on the opponent, as if he has no control over his body. It's just that this one wasn't so blatantly obvious, so he won't be getting an indefinite suspension out of it.The play on AD was a wild swing. It doesn’t matter if you’re going for the ball if you swing that wildly. There is almost no chance of getting a clean steal when you swing like that and those kind of swings are generally associated with frustration fouls. It clearly wasn’t even close to the worst thing he’s ever done but it was still a reckless play.
Then, you see the other clip with Vanderbilt where he’s jumping around like a psycho after calling him that B word and you know he’s learned nothing. The guy simply cannot control his emotions.
Dray had a good game & he's a quote if nothing else (people are going to lose their collective minds when he is a regular on TNT)Wilt…Russ

Green was phenomenal last night and while everyone was talking about Steph’s shot it was the inbounds pass by Podz that is going unnoticed. That was elite stuff right there. The Warriors are a flawed team but can’t imagine that they don’t give some team(s) fits in the playoffs.

In his interviews this week he sounded like a defeated man. You can’t perform at the NBA level without confidence and he sounds long gone.Dray had a good game & he's a quote if nothing else (people are going to lose their collective minds when he is a regular on TNT)
Really fun game down the stretch.
Any idea what the Warriors are going to do with Klay (re: contract)? I haven't followed all that closely, but every time I watch Kerr is playing Pods or GP2 in big spots
I know some posters go too far with their Draymond criticisms—suggesting he’s not a good player without this stuff—but we shouldn’t be using the fact that he’s an elite defender and passer to excuse the fact that he punches players in the balls and knocks out his teammates.Wilt…Russ

That and the idea that players get techs for acting out of character.. so a player like Tatum is T’d for behavior that Draymond does on almost every possession.I know some posters go too far with their Draymond criticisms—suggesting he’s not a good player without this stuff—but we shouldn’t be using the fact that he’s an elite defender and passer to excuse the fact that he punches players in the balls and knocks out his teammates.
He is 100% a toxic influence on the court and the league has allowed it over and over – most likely because he is a key part of an elite team that has been good for ratings.
As I said upthread, I still get angry about what he did in Game 2 of the 2021 Finals. Any other player gets T’d up for the shit he pulls with Jaylen—being in his landing space, falling over on him, and laying on him—but the league knows that would be tantamount to gifting the Celtics a 2-0 lead going back him and a death sentence to the series. So instead they tolerate him going right up to the line of injuring guys – effectively letting him change the tenor of not only the game and series.
It’s worth rewatching the clip:

And yes, I know “Jaylen/Tatum/Granite should’ve had the maturity to not let Draymond get to them.” Which JVG says here. But he also repeatedly says that there’s nothing else the players can do and Draymond should’ve been ejected for this. But of course he isn't, so here we are two seasons later with the same shit going on.
I am on record as saying that the NBA’s Achilles heel is that it referees stars completely differently than everyone else. I believe it goes back to Stern’s insatiable desire for ratings in the Magic and Bird era and I think he let it warp the integrity of the game. I think Draymond is yet another example of how that legacy continues. It sucks for the game which is why I am all for players calling this stuff out.
The pass just got some love on the Celtics national telecast. It deserved it.Wilt…Russ

The pass was almost as impressive as the shot.. and the shot was pretty impressiveThe pass just got some love on the Celtics national telecast. It deserved it.

He already is the next big thing with one of the more popular Podcasts. They really are going to try to make him the next big thing on TNT, aren't they?
TNT announces alternate NBA All-Star game broadcasts, will pair Charles Barkley and Draymond Green
He's good at it tooHe already is the next big thing with one of the more popular Podcasts.
Which is crazy because i havent had the inkling to ever even watch snippits of his pod that get posted. I've also not watched whenever he would guest on TNT. The one time i saw him, he took himself way too fucking serious when Charles cracked a joke and i was done.He already is the next big thing with one of the more popular Podcasts.
A lot of Draymond's schtick is WWF-level antics whether it's on the floor or in front of a mic...Which is crazy because i havent had the inkling to ever even watch snippits of his pod that get posted. I may be in the minority though.
lol, lesson learned. Good job, good effort Adam Silver & crew. Praying this guy doesn't take out one of the C's in a few weeks.
We should have a betting pool on whether he's going to even make it to our game without further discipline. Probably +130, +140, somewhere in there.lol, lesson learned. Good job, good effort Adam Silver & crew. Praying this guy doesn't take out one of the C's in a few weeks.
I want to be 100% certain of this….
He’s talking about Jurkic in that clip (though he may separately harbor a beef against KD also)I want to be 100% certain of this….
But, his beef with Durant is solely because KD said something along the lines of I hope he gets the help he needs?
The thing that Draymond himself said was fine when he came back? Now he’s done a 180 and it’s a problem again?
Yes, sorry my post was unclear. The clip was about Nurkic but he also called out KD on that same pod. He’s talking about Jurkic in that clip (though he may separately harbor a beef against KD also)
Yup. It's almost like his initial apology/redemption mini-tour was a complete and total sham. Silver and the NBA league office wake up every day praying that Draymond won't do more stupid shit, at least for the rest of this season.I want to be 100% certain of this….

At first glance, I thought it might've been a flop by DiVincenzo, but nope - Dray dropped the People's Elbow right on DiVincenzo's face. Happens real fast. Like Kliq said, if anyone else is doing that, we'd probably assume it was a mild brush at most, and totally innocent.Anyone else gets the benefit of the doubt here:

It's amazing how all of these "out of control, but just trying hard!" plays never seem to injure his own teammates.Because we're either going to be talking about it, or talking about why people aren't talking about it, we might as well move this one over here now:

That little look at him lying on the ground as Dray starts to run downcourt... man.
Aside from Rudy Tomjanovich from the Kermit punch, has there ever been an NBA players career ended due to physicality? Did it even happen in the 90s when everyone was playing way way WAY more physical than Draymond? You know that he's going to end someone's career. We just don't know whose yet.
Uh… Sorry. I was around for the 90s. People were not playing way more physical then Draymond. At least not more than once. If they did, they would get their faces redecorated.Aside from Rudy Tomjanovich from the Kermit punch, has there ever been an NBA players career ended due to physicality?
