I think that’s a brutal, but legal, hit. Form was good, point of contact good. I think he’ll get suspended, but I don’t know what the technical justification will be, outside of “bad outcome.” Playing the puck at that speed would have required him to have gone directly into the crossbar. No way he could have stopped himself. I certainly think the intent was to stop the goal moreso than truck a guy for the sake of it.
I put this into the category of hockey is innately dangerous rather than dirty hit.
