Who scored the TD for the Rags? I was out in the garden and hurried in when I remembered this was on today. Guess I don't have to waste any more time sitting here.

Nash is the one who kicked the extra point.

Wait, what?  Nash scored a goal?

That's it, the Rangers are winning the cup.

Yeah, hell froze, pigs flew, Nash scored. That's been this game in general.

And Moore gets called for tripping while not being within 5 feet of the guy. Good job refs.

And then Montreal hacks at Henrik like he's a comely young lass in a slasher flick and Girardi gets called. Refs performing about as well as the Canadians are.

I guess if the Habs get crushed by the Rags, followed by the Rags getting crushed in the Finals, that wouldn't be so bad of a season.

I'm just glad that didn't happen against the Bruins, or this place would have exploded.
Wellllll, since you mentioned it...Subban's breakaway goal in game 3:

Announcers didn't catch it at the time, so there was no exploding.

This game pisses me off moreso than I already was about the Bruins.  The Bruins should've been able to do this to Price and the Scabs.

My team had the team that put up a touchdown down 3-1 coming off back to back shutouts and blew it.  Join the club.

Oh good grief.  This is NOT what I needed to see.

Can't blame them though.  I mean, the great PK Subban was gliding down the ice.

They were mesmerized.

So does anybody here think the Rangers might just be really fucking good and on a roll right now? I really don't think the Bruins would have beat this team right now the way they're playing. Especially with Chara playing through a broken finger and Seidenberg rushing back from ACL surgery.

Bruins would've been a tougher matchup for the Rags. Bruins would've had more room in the neutral zone to operate and lot less blocked shots. But, lundquist is playing great. I've seen the Rangers look like this and I've seen them pretty awful this year. If they stay consistent then they're real good.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but so far in the playoffs you've had all four #1's and #2's get knocked out so you end up with all four #3's battling for the Stanley Cup.

That said, Chicago is a very good team, chasing their third cup in five years; even so, wonder how the powers that be at the NHL feel about this, would they prefer Boston/Pittsburg in the east and Anaheim/Colorado in the west or does it really not matter as you've got three original six teams in it and a team that is two years removed from a cup win left?

You also have four major markets in Montreal, New York, Chicago and LA represented as well.

I'm not sure, maybe someone who is more up on the state of the NHL can comment on this.......

Other than the Rangers being the 2 seed in the Metro, you do have something. The conference finals has Canada, the US East Coast, the Mid-West, and the Pacific coast covered, so each major "zone" that isn't the Deep South is covered.

That said, getting a couple of weaker markets here would've probably been good for the NHL, as Rangers, Habs, Blackhawks, and Kings fans don't need much motivation to watch hockey regardless of their teams' fates.

They are certainly playing well right now, with a lot of bit players really stepping up their game (moore, zucc, brass) and McDonough really turning around his playoffs after a very shaky, injury limited start. It is worth mentioning that since Chris Kreider has come back, the team is 4-1 with a 19-9 goal differential. And they are 4-0 in the last four, after Kreider got his legs and hands back, with a 17-5 differential. He has had an incredible impact.

And it helps that Hank gives the team a lot of confidence that even if they mess up, he will likely bail them out. His work in Game 7 was insane.

Lots of blather from the team because they are trying to take their attention away from the fact that the team laid a humongous egg on the ice yesterday and also lost their composure in the latter stages of the game.

Fair game on Lundqvist now if I'm Therrien.  He's got guys like Doug Murray that are easily replaced and can run him.

Everyone always says that and then it doesn't happen. I'm still waiting for a Rask or Thomas to be run after the Lucic/Miller incident. I was told it was open season on Bruin goalies after that.

Lundqvist may have to deal with an extra snow shower or two, that's it.

That's true but that was a regular season game and with the passage of time sometimes the urge to retaliate wanes.  This is two nights later and in the Eastern Conference Finals.

I would think you would be more likely to see a revenge fueled run at Lundqvist in a regular season game when the stakes aren't as high. The threshold for goalie interference is already through the roof, now it will be even higher. Are the Canadiens, who are down 1-0 in the series, really going to risk taking a penalty or even a suspension in an eye-for-an-eye run at Lundqvist? I don't see it. Maybe if the game gets out of hand on the scoreboard, but even then I wouldn't expect anything other than the token snow shower and Weise or someone challenging Kreider.

I don't see it happening in Game 2, but quite possibly if it's 3-0 and they're losing in a game 4.

You take your chances now that you can win with your backup fair and square.

I think it's more likely a run is taken at Kreider not Henrik actually.

Michel now saying he has picked a game 2 goalie but is "keeping it secret". So after Budaj they have Tokarski. I have a feeling they'll go with him over Budaj initially.

Price is out for the rest of the Rangers series. I don't see how Montreal can advance without him but they'll have lots of help from the refs.

Tokarski hasn't played in over a month. If Therrien want to piss away a shot at the cup, be my guest.
Ah yeah that's right, forgot Hamilton missed the Calder Cup playoffs. Still though, Budaj wasn't very good in the regular season and has been terrible throughout his career in the playoffs. Tokarski was 2-0 this season for them, and was 12-2 with a 1.46 GAA and .944 SV% in the 2012 Calder Cup playoffs. Hopefully for them he kept working out this last month (hopefully for us he didn't and this is a giant clusterfuck).

If we don't see Tokarski by game 3 (assuming Budaj starts and loses tonight), I'd be surprised.

Dear Diary,

Today Fred in Lynn said something mean about me online.  Doesn't he know I'm emotionally fragile after the heartbreak I had just suffered at the breakup between myself and the 2013-14 Bruins.  It's like he totally doesn't even care about my feelings and just wants to see me get hurt for his own pleasure.  I wish he'd go back to the city of sin known as Lynn where he could cheer for those miscast outfit of idiot Flyers.  Jerkface

Thanks for Abba Zaba though.  Oh Abba Zaba, you're my only friend.

xoxo,

I don't recall Therrien calling Brendan Gallagher reckless after this:

If nothing else, Montreal has done a great job of getting focus away from the thrashing they received this weekend and found something to rally around. So I guess that is a good strategy. Of course, nobody wants to talk about the slash Kreider received to the right leg which bent the stick 45 degrees and caused his right foot to splay and started his fall to the ice. Nope. Don't talk about that.

The Canadians are the personification of Satan.

Yes, Montreal fans are the only ones to sing their national anthem!

The pre-game circle jerk they put on every game is insufferable. And NBC feeds right into it.

Bruins didn't get a single bounce like the one the Rangers just got. Frustrating.
I'd say Bergeron's goal in Game 2 was a pretty damn lucky bounce. Literally.

The overall point is valid though.

Alright, alright. You guys win.

They got 1 bounce.

Fraser's goal came off a lucky bounce off the boards, too.

But those two moments were counteracted by like 37 bad bounces.

Classy slash by Vanek there. Going for more compound fractures.
