Honestly though, the US isn't playing bad.

Except on set pieces. My god, my daughter's U13 team would be yelled at for these.

Here
It's an awfully aggressive call. I guess I can see it as 50/50 but it's so obvious there was no intent there and it's at the very edge of the box--refs tend to rightly see a PK as unnecessarily harsh for what transpired
The hand was too far away from the body imo. That ball should be allowed to make its way across for the chance.

It's actually going to be a seni tough decision whether you bring on Pulisic and Nagbe and risk giving up more goals or just try to tighten up at 2-0 and try to deal with it later in the group

Give them 15-20 minutes and see where we are. I'd like to see them around 60-65'.

Yedlin can protect his face, but the arm was too far away from his face and shoulder to give him the benefit. It's the correct call after a brutal giveaway.

Not sure how much you really lose defensively depending on who comes off.

Well of course Lalas thinks it's a penalty.

Does anyone like that guy?

It was a bad giveaway and Yedlin's arm was too unnatural and too far away. Shitty but a PK.

US is actually playing decent. They aren't being destroyed. The issue it seems, they get forward to ~30 yds from net and then get fouled. Then their free kicks suck so it is wasted attack.

Right side is scary with Cuadrado's speed but FJ and Woods have done well.

Give em 10-15 then move to get Pulisic / Nagbe someone on.

He's right, I honestly don't see how one argues otherwise. Hand is away from the body and only reason why the ball doesn't go past the defender.

Sucks to get burned by it, but that's pretty clear cut under the rule.

He's right because he's yelling louder. He's insufferable.

Tough first half. I too thought the US played well but Colombia capitalized on big mistakes.

If this thing ends 2-0 or even 3-0 against the #3 team in the world, with 2 of the goals off a bad corner and that PK, is it * really* that bad? For #30 in the world?

This group is all about the CRC and PAR games.

It's not really his argument, it's his general asshole-ness.

And you've got other smart soccer guys sitting next to him arguing the opposite.

No, but they remind me of Everton this year. Lots of nice passing in the middle third, and then....pffft.

I know people like him but I just have no use for Bedoya. I've never seen it with him, too often completely invisible.

That seemed like a PK on Cameron...

Off Dempsey and Bedoya. Gimme Nagbe and Pulisic. Move Woods up top. Probably not quite balanced but Col has come out on fire.

I don't know who teaches all our attackers to post up defenders but it's a shit idea. Even if you manage to win the ball you're static.

I just saw Clint Dempsey track back and steal a pass while playing striker. Feels like seeing a unicorn
Like his effort, but he's dropping so far back there is no outlet.

Also Jermaine Jones' barely animated corpse has no business on a USWNT squad

We are playing decently, but we are not a complete team and need a lot of growth before we can match up favorably against the top 10 teams in the world.

I just hope this doesn't turn into a situation where fans rush to scapegoat ______ if we lose to a decent Costa Rica or Panama team 1-2 and don't make it out of the group. Klinnsman is mediocre, but he is the coach because it's not as if we have dozens of great domestic coaches to replace him with. The same thing with Michael Bradley; he is the American Pirlo because we don't have a real Pirlo to start ahead of him. Then there's Yedlin, Dempsey, Altidore, etc.

Colombia wants to pass it around and Ole they could have the decency to not fake an injury when a teammate plays an under hit hospital pass in the back line
