Dixon is a Howland guy, surprised they’d go that route.
equally surprising dixon would want to go that route too.
Longtime NBAer Jerry Stackhouse is taking the Vandy job. Was a Grizz assistant and had coached in the G League before this.
LA Times is reporting that talks between UCLA and Jamie Dixon have hit a snag over the $8 million buyout of his TCU contract.
Arkansas might blank check Beard....
Chris Mullen is leaving St. John’s. They will pursue Bobby Hurley.
Supposedly he was having trouble filling his top recruiter spot after Matt left due to Mullin only having 2 years left on his deal.
Is St. John’s a step up from Arizona St? Debatable at best. I get that Hurley is a northeast guy, but I think I’d rather be at ASU.
UCLA close on Rick Barnes.
Barnes is now staying at Tennessee after receiving a raise. UCLA is a complete disaster right now. They've had 3 months to figure this out and have whiffed at every turn.
St. John's is a better place to be than ASU. It's in his area, his name carries a lot more cache in the NE than anywhere else, and if he succeeds there it's a bigger springboard to the next job.
Right now Hurley is probably in the best spot to succeed Coach K.
Johnny Dawkins? Collins? Quinn Snyder?
Collins maybe. When Coach K retires Dawkins will be 60+ years old. Quin Snyder is a successful NBA coach, doubtful.
Jon Scheyer is a possibility too.
Mick Cronin has been hired by UCLA
Woj is probably in the conversation too
I really like Mick but UCLA people are going to absolutely hate how his teams play. They did the same with Ben Howland.
I guess if you never can advance past the first weekend, rarely develop a player to play in the NBA, have rosters littered with 22 -24 year olds, and act like a total jackass, you too can be coach at UCLA
Didn't see this posted, but Wofford's Mike Young went to Virginia Tech last week. This was Young's big chance to make a jump, since his stock will likely never be higher, and he grew up near Virginia Tech, so this is a great move for him. (Plus, it likely multiplies his salary by about 10.) Young was at Wofford for 31 years, first as assistant coach, then as head coach from 2002-2019.
Wofford announced today that Jay McAuley, Mike Young's assistant, is going to replace Young.
hearing word that ucla put feeler out for Tony Bennett 10 years for 75 mil and they were told last week he wasn't interested.
St. John's is meeting with Loyola-Chicago coach Porter Moser tonight about their opening.
Update: Per Zach Brasilier of the NY Post, St. John's has offered Moser the job.
St. John's is interviewing Yale's James Jones, UMBC's Ryan Odom, and Miami's Frank Haith.
