Exactly. This is what Cashman has been waiting for. This is Cashman putting his chips in. They opened up a 6 year window, we’re heading in Year 3 of that window. This is the right time to go for it, especially with the Astros and Red Sox seemingly at the end of their respective windows.
So the pair of mystery teams was Boras posturing with Heyman as a mouthpiece? I'm fucking shocked.
You can’t believe the Yankees got a premier free agent that they announced they’re all in on?Insanity. I'm happy. I'm surprised. Can't believe we got em.
This is a good point; I'd add Cleveland, too. This is Cashman putting his chips in. They opened up a 6 year window, we’re heading in Year 3 of that window. This is the right time to go for it, especially with the Astros and Red Sox seemingly at the end of their respective windows.
Maybe to you. There was so much noise about his preferences, how hard the Angels were going after him...nothing ever seemed a sure bet.You can’t believe the Yankees got a premier free agent that they announced they’re all in on?
For real?
To me this is like the least surprising free agent signing of the past decade.
Really, you can't believe it? Did anyone not think this is what was going to happen.Insanity. I'm happy. I'm surprised. Can't believe we got em.
Could wind up being a good thing.
Yeah, I am glad it's not ten years because it was looking like it could be but thankfully Arte seems to have caved before that.Really, you can't believe it? Did anyone not think this is what was going to happen.
I, for one, think this deal could have been worse for NYY. I'm slightly surprised it's not more.
my yankees friends cant stop talking about this guy. They should be favourites for the next 3-4 years until their young players get expensive and premium guys get old. From a team building perspective, Cashman has been playing it exactly by the book. The execution has been pretty great. I hope they don’t win, but Cashman has done a great job.
Heh, this is both funny and fair, kudos.Good for the Yankees. I wonder how they try to get out of paying the last three years of his contract when that time comes.
If he's Verlander. Why in earth would he opt out of this deal when he is mid 30s
Maybe he didn't want to hit? I'm surprised he would choose the Yankees over the Dodgers if the offers were the same.Verducci says the Dodgers made around the same offer to Cole as the Yankees did.
I heard him say this too, that makes me feel even better about this because Friedman just doesn't make commitments like that.Verducci says the Dodgers made around the same offer to Cole as the Yankees did.
Last thing for Cashman based on team building 101 would be to convert multiple prospects into 1 or 2 premium cost-controlled guys. This might happen next year or the year after if they haven’t won it all.my yankees friends cant stop talking about this guy.

should be ready around the time Judge and Sanchez hit FA
Their system is really well set up, they have a huge group of high ceiling SPs who will be ready over the next few years and then quite a few very talented teenage position players led by Dominguez after that, so they will hopefully be able to fill some holes from within as guys get pricier or leave in FA.Last thing for Cashman based on team building 101 would be to convert multiple prospects into 1 or 2 premium cost-controlled guys. I really am happy for you guys. I felt Cash went safe for the starting rotation last year, so glad they paid up for a stud. I look forward to hating Cole in the near future.Heh, this is both funny and fair, kudos.
Cole In Their StockingThe Yankees needed to do this - he is exactly what they need. The Sterling calls and the sports tabloid headlines write themselves too.
Yeah, I can see why Cashman will now wait but I can also see him flipping Garcia, Dominguez and one more premium prospect for someone like Bieber. I can see this happening next offseason, depending on what happens in the season. If they win, then there’s no need to do it. Tom mentioned that Cole and the new Yankees pitching coach hit it off due to their shared love of analytics. If he can continue the things he did in Houston to revive his career then the sky is the limit.I heard him say this too, that makes me feel even better about this because Friedman just doesn't make commitments like that.
Yeah, Matt Blake (their new young pitching coach) already deserves a raise and he just got hired a few weeks ago.Tom mentioned that Cole and the new Yankees pitching coach hit it off due to their shared love of analytics. Right, definitely could be. I think the thinking behind hiring Matt Blake is attempting to avoid this scenario and trying to create their own Biebers internally, but a lot easier said than done of course.Yeah, I can see why Cashman will now wait but I can also see him flipping Garcia, Dominguez and one more premium prospect for someone like Bieber.
