Faverani is being waived, per reports.

Boston will send Rajon Rondo and Dwight Powell to Dallas for Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jamar Nelson, 2015 first-round and future second.
Danny needs to get rid of wright if he wants to miss the 8 seedoumbi said:Maybe not long at all.
Jonathan Feigen: Don't be surprised if Celtics look to flip Wright. One of the reasons Celtics needed a deal done by Friday. Twitter @Jonathan_Feigen
Can't be traded in a package deal for 60 days. One reason to trade Rondo now. It lets Danny use players in the return in a package close to the deadline.luckiestman said:Danny needs to get rid of wright if he wants to miss the 8 seed
Post of the year LOL!Statman said:The Celtics got fucking robbed. I'd rather keep Rondo and let him walk at the end of the year for nothing in return than accept that shit platter that Cuban just served us.
The fact that we are including a promising rookie (Powell) in the deal just infuriates me.
Count me in the group of those who want a playoff run even without Rondo. I think its time to get some of these young guys that experience.luckiestman said:Danny needs to get rid of wright if he wants to miss the 8 seed
I'm with you, I'm just not sure Danny's with uscircus catch said:Count me in the group of those who want a playoff run even without Rondo. I think its time to get some of these young guys that experience.
I know Wright's a free agent at the end of the year, but does anyone have contract status for Nelson and Crowder?

Everybody knows your opinion on Rondo. Feel free to sit the next coupla posts out.Brickowski said:Well, they weren't getting any playoff experience with Rondo. He's the Jay Cutler of the NBA.
Bakes has hated Rondo since 2008.Brickowski said:Irrational? Rondo played himself out of town and got himself dealt to a contender. IMHO Jackie M. was right all along.

It's been well stated, along with everybody else here. And it doesn't even counter yours much, my disagreement is with your insistence on cluttering this forum with the same exact same thought 6 times a day for the last 2 years.Brickowski said:And what's your opinion of Rondo?
http://www.nba.com/celtics/news/pressrelease/boston-celtics-complete-trade-dallas-mavericksThe Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired guard Jameer Nelson, forward Jae Crowder, forward/center Brandan Wright, a conditional first round draft pick, a 2016 second round draft pick and a $12.9 million trade exception from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for guard Rajon Rondo and forward Dwight Powell.
In a related move, the Celtics have waived center Vitor Faverani.
So it's really a 2016 pick, unless Rondo blows up the Mavs...Julius.R said:https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/545761598338772992
Well this is interesting....
Mavs are the 6 right now ahead of SA and OKC if those two pass them it's a 3 way fight for the last spot with PHX and NO.Eddie Jurak said:So it's really a 2016 pick, unless Rondo blows up the Mavs...
And a big trade exception.
The bigger issue I see is that Rondo will take the ball out of Monta's hands. Cuban wants Monta on that ball, Cuban needs Monta on that ball.DeJesus Built My Hotrod said:The more I think about this, the more I don't like it for the Mavs. Rondo's passing and ball-handling is an upgrade vs Nelson but Nelson is clearly a better scorer than Rondo. And the Mavs cost themselves some wing and front-court depth (not that the C's value Wright and Crowder like the Mavs did). This reeks of Dallas doing something to do something. That said, unless Rondo regains his defensive form (and I am not buying that he will), its a bad trade for Dallas.
The C's get more assets which is the coin of Danny's realm.
Well, thank goodness Ainge unloaded Rondo to save me from even more redundancy.Grin&MartyBarret said:It's been well stated, along with everybody else here. you mean how he goes about his business game after game and just wins year after year and steps it up in the playoffs?I think that is a tad unfair. More like Flacco.
What Rondo benefits most from are perimeter shooters and pick and roll bigs, Big Al is neither.Van Everyman said:Can I ask (what is probably) a stupid question? Why didn't Danny go after Al Jefferson when he was a FA? I know he's not the difference between nothing and a ring. But the big problem with Rondo is that since the Big Three left, he hasn't really had anyone to feed it to. Big Al would've at least made the team better at a position of need. Did we not have the cap space?
Partly cap, but (I think) also partly the lifecycle of a team. The C's aren't in the business of getting to the playoffs, they're in the business of competing for a title, and I don't think Big Al would have kept them from the downward part of the cycle.Van Everyman said:Can I ask (what is probably) a stupid question? You literally have no idea when to shut up.Brickowski said:Well, thank goodness Ainge unloaded Rondo to save me from even more redundancy.
I hated that he was JAG being masqueraded as a star who would be exposed once Pierce and KG were out of his life. The Celtics results never changed regardless of who replaced him in the lineup over his entire career and in several cases improved.Devizier said:Bakes has hated Rondo since 2008.
On the topic of Rondo? Agreed. I don't root for the Mavs, and if I did I'd feel fleeced, especially since it's being reported that the first rounder is likely to be a top eight protected 2016 pick, not a 2015 pick.Blacken said:You literally have no idea when to shut up.
Now would be a good time.
Celtics haven't been under the cap to sign such a FA in eons.Van Everyman said:Can I ask (what is probably) a stupid question? Why didn't Danny go after Al Jefferson when he was a FA? That is an interesting pick protection, I have not seen it done before. Ainge must think there is real value in the 10-14 picks in 2015 in the unlikely event the Mavs slip down there. Why else just not call it a 2016 1st round pick with top 7 protection??Eddie Jurak said:So it's really a 2016 pick, unless Rondo blows up the Mavs...

I think Daryl Morey was the first to use this protection when he traded Kyle Lowry.RGREELEY33 said:That is an interesting pick protection, I have not seen it done before. It looks like Chandler, Aminu, and Barea are the only Mavs of notes not signed thru 2016, so they'll have pretty much the same team coming back with a strong likelihood they'll re-sign Chandler if he is healthy.
I like the trade. I think The combination of Rondo's injury, the PG depth in the league, and the gross overvaluation of his abilities by Celtics fans have contributed to some of the crazy expectations. This gives the Celts some pretty crazy trade leverage either for a star or to trade up to take the next Ainge binky.

It is a clear majority opinion around here that "loyalty" and "rooting for the guys who have been around" are concepts of no value in the 21st century sports.
So might as well have fun playing General Manager and imagining how well getting "assets" will work out.
Which means I am looking forward to a Wizards/Mavs final!
(And isn't it a smart thing we got rid of Pierce before he fell apart!)
This is a great post, IMHO.Sprowl said:Bye bye Brick. Win or not, you won't be around to collect.
Yup. Paul Pierce is the man. Will always be the man. Should retire in green. My pet fan-GMing is that after next season the C's bring him back for a year as a victory lap before he retires. But him and KG leaving accelerated the rebuild by multiple years (anyone think the Nets are gonna be any good in 2017 or 2018?) and positioned the team for long-term success, again. And it gives us teams to cheer for in the interim. When I'm not hanging onto the bumper of the Dubs bus for dear life, anyway.DeJesus Built My Hotrod said:There is no room for "loyalty" here if you want the Celtics to be relevant anytime soon.
