Bruins will retire Rick Middleton’s number 16 on November 29th vs the Islanders.
My favorite Bruin growing up. Though I never knew his number, having to watch the games through the fuzz of rabbit ears on the ole black and white TV.
Well that's Nifty
Good to see. I am up there with OGG, I loved Middleton growing up. He just had so much flair
Good gesture ... but, seriously, why isn't Wayne Cashman's number retired?
Or Brad Park.
Oh man, that's awesome. I loved him growing up.
Absolute legend. What took them so long and why now?
I'll join the chorus to say he too was my favorite Bruin, watching WSBK from southern Vermont from 1978 on. Like Jim Ed, maybe his numbers and impact weren't the greatest, but still the most impressive to my young eyes.
Parts of 8 Seasons with the Bruins
Parts of 10 seasons elsewhere.
I loved him here, but he'll always be in Rangers colors in my memories
Awesome. Nifty was my absolute favorite player as a kid.
Same with Jean Ratelle, who came to Bruins with Park, but played fewer seasons in Boston IIRC.
EDIT: Fantastic news for Middleton. Well deserved and long overdue.
I know we used to refer to a recent Sox catcher as "The Plumber" since he looked so much like a guy who would just be a local blue-collar technician if he wasn't a professional athlete, but I would put Middleton, his receding hairline, and his cheesy mustache in the "Local Blue-Collar Guy" Hall Of Fame.
