It's been 14 years since the AP and PFWA winners weren't identical so I would say it's a formality at this point. Still, the last MVP to win it all was Kurt Warner, nearly 2 decades ago. Brady stared the Madden curse in the face and didn't blink. Guess this one is next on the chopping block. This is not the real MVP. Cool anyway, and while I'm greatly interested in his winning the MVP when he does, this isn't it.
Since 1975, here are the years that PFW MVP weren't the AP NFL MVP(considered the "real" one). This is not the real MVP. Cool anyway, and while I'm greatly interested in his winning the MVP when he does, this isn't it.
And numbnutz responds this wayThought this was funny. On the subject of what's the "official" MVP award, of course Volin does this.
Ben, there is no "official" NFL MVP award. AP has a marketing agreement for their awards at NFL Honors, but the NFL recognizes the AP and PFWA MVP winners in their publications, etc.
Off topic, but the two coaches Manning won Super Bowls with are retired -- while the two he lost them with were each fired after this seasonQuick scan.. so the NFL MVP has been in the superbowl 8 times since Warner won both in 1999.
Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Peyton Manning (x2), Tom Brady, Shaun Alexander, Rich Gannon and Warner.
Hopefully at the very least Brady gets into the Super Bowl to take his shot and breaking another jinx/curse
Since the last to win both was Kurt Warner, and given how this dynasty began, Brady winning both this year would be a nice closed circle in a sense.Quick scan.. so the NFL MVP has been in the superbowl 8 times since Warner won both in 1999.

Fair enough!
"Fair enough!"????? ... Shouldn't he have known this to begin with?
Seriously.Bite. Your. Tongue.
You mean the Super Bowl MVP? [emoji6]That's not the MVP award I'm interested in...
Nevertheless, congrats to the GOAT.
Well one of those two times we failed to win in the Divisional round, so that one's already behind us.Shhh... Gotta beat the Jags first.
Edit: PS I am superstitious too.
And let's not mention the other one right now... All I am saying is it's on to Jacksonville.Well one of those two times we failed to win in the Divisional round, so that one's already behind us.
what? That Brady has a speech prepared and isn’t going to wing it if he wins MVP? I mean it’s not like he’s maniacal about preparation or anything.Has anybody else reported this?
It would be nice to see one if these shitheads that are so wrong lose their job. No, I’m not gracious like Tom was with the tool that called his daughter a pissant.Suck it Max Kellerman.
That is large. He was one vote short of unanimous after the 07 season.Tom Brady: 40 votes
Todd Gurley: 8 votes
Carson Wentz: 2 votes
Wentz would have probably won if he didn't get injured, due to said push.Everyone was so desperate for anyone but Brady to win but there was no other choice. We went from people pushing candidacies of pre-season Carr to Smith to Rodgers to Wentz toWilson to Bell/Brown to Gurley to...oh crap it's obviously Brady.
Brady would have won last year if not for the competitive balance suspensionWentz would have probably won if he didn't get injured, due to said push.
Yes. Of course the narrative that was created around him -that the Eagles are great mainly because Wentz is great - has been proven to be a little overblown. Not that Wentz is not great, but Wentz wasn't necessarily better or more valuable to his team than Brady, so you are making my point. Ed: Sorry, we are in agreement, mis-read,Wentz would have probably won if he didn't get injured, due to said push.
What does that have to do with the 2017 MVP vote?Brady would have won last year if not for the competitive balance suspension
I was literally making your point.Yes. Of course the narrative that was created around him -that the Eagles are great mainly because Wentz is great - has been proven to be a little overblown. Not that Wentz is not great, but Wentz wasn't necessarily better or more valuable to his team than Brady, so you are making my point.
True. Brady would have won last year if not for the competitive balance suspension. If ifs and buts...
Yes, I saw that later when I read better. Very sorry.I was literally making your point.
Man, it's absurd Pederson didn't win. I know they don't take into account the playoffs, but the Eagles went 13-3 and dominated in most of their games.Brady is eight years older than the NFL Coach of the Year.
