I’m sorry but there’s no universe in which this shouldn’t have been a sweep. And absolutely no universe it should be 1-1 going to Miami.

I expect them to come out and destroy Miami in Game 3 but this is a hard fought 6/7 game series now which sucks for the prospects of a deep playoff run. Best offense in history came up really small tonight.
I mean one loss and people are ready to fire the coach and trade players.

And we are the "intelligent" fans.
A loss against a longtime nemesis who always seem to find an extra gear that totally befuddles. So frustrating.

I think they still win the series and not too uncomfortably but they are so far in their own heads sometimes and it really makes me hope someone takes out Denver before the Finals because I don’t know how you can trust them (more than Denver) to figure shit out if it’s not going well.
this is incredibly fair and how I feel.

I have 0 doubt the Celtics win this series. I have a shit ton of doubt that this roster and this wackjob of a coach can get it done in the end.

Heading for another physically-draining, early-round 7-game series. Swell.

Can you cut the shit with the name calling of JM already? I mean come the fuck on.

edit: the names say more about you than they do JM.

At some point you have to blame the players..
sure but the coach’s job is to optimize the players - does anyone disagree that we sweep with Spoelstra?

why on earth would you pair an unproven coach with an elite roster whose stars, if anything, need help getting over the hump to get a ring!?

Fuck Chris Haynes. It’s a major indictment of media that a guy that’s just an all out clout chaser can be on major tv

You can play as hard as possible and still miss shots. If the Heat weren't lights out tonite from 3-point range, the C's probably would have found a way to win. Trading 2s for 3s is not a formula for success in today's NBA.
Yeah, that's true, but the Heat's great shooting is masking what I thought was the bigger problem. The Celtics just were out of ideas on offense all second half and were getting intimidated and pushed around. They scored 40 in the second half. They needed to hang with the Heat by matching some of those buckets and just couldn't. The had one idea per possession and if it was contested they really didn't have anything.

Inexcusable loss. No effort on defense, and no response when things got difficult. If it's the only game this series that's like this, fine. Otherwise, they may survive the series but will certainly fall short again as Miami writes the book on how to handle this Celtics team.

Shitty game and it’s fair to question whether the coaching talent differential matters. But it’s still just one loss. Get it together, win game three, and never speak of tonight again.

I think it's 80% past trauma. It's just really disappointing to lose to a depleted Miami team in the way that they did.

The defense should be the thing that shows up consistently - it was okay in stretches, but it wasn't championship level tonight. I don't know what they're waiting for, especially against this particular team.

That being said, I think they curb stomp Miami in G3.

What was that about?
they didn’t run their offense. It was all one on one and PP, Hauser, White, Jrue need the team to penetrate and pass. But they didn’t. Then KP has a shit game.

this is 75% bad offensive execution. 10% defense. And 15% shooting luck.

need to do. A lot better on the 85% we can control

You wanted them to have this game in Miami. Terrifying that it happened in Boston after they lollygagged the 4th quarter in game 1.
Everyone who has watched this team knew that they would mail in an effort sooner or later. Hard to fathom it happened in game two of the playoffs. When you're not closing out on threes in the 1Q of a home playoff game, you can simply fuck off.

where I was last at
Heat hitting 3s took away transition ball and pace and the Celts bogged down all nite. No real movement. Or energy.. It happens.

But the real story was Spo had to come up with something new and he did and it worked. AGAIN.

No? I mean the guy is a fucking nut. I don’t mind him and I think he’s a pretty good coach. He’s also a major fucking weirdo. I mean I think he’d agree with that to be honest.

Obviously they’ll win the series but two games in and we already have our first odd effort. Refused to close out to shooters all night, played at an extremely slow pace, especially when down late, and tried to go 1 on 1 matchup hunting instead of running offense. We all saw it but apparently they just couldn’t adjust? What the fuck

I disagree... Spoelstra is a really good coach... his teams lose plenty of games including as major favorites.

One major factor... Celtics stopped taking 3s. One of the lowest totals for attempts on the year. Taking far fewer 3s than your opponent and hitting them at a lower rate is always a loss in the modern NBA.
Celts hit 12, missed 20
Miami hit 23, missed 20

That's really the only difference in the stat sheet.

heat defensive plan was to allow good one on one matchups and hope they could defend them. Took away Celtics passing. And celts fell for it

The only reason this was actually semi-close was Miami's ridiculous amount of first half turnovers. KP and Jrue sloppily turning the ball back over twice didn't help the C's cause either. Once Miami cut out the turnovers it was a wrap. The gameplan and execution in regards to defending was awful. Mazzula got pantsed.

This game reminded me of the LAL game when AD and LBJ were out.

The Cs have bounced back from these types of games all year. Hopefully they will do the same this time.

Here’s the thing….thats not axtually a good plan. I mean it worked but that was because Porzingis and Holiday absolutely shit their pants. I don’t think you can bank on that again

Everyone should, this team had all the exact same problems under Ime, and Brad.....

also, way fewer teams sweep any series than you think, Sixers had the only 1st round sweep last year, in fact the last time there was more than 1 sweep in the 1st round was 2019-20.

If you’re Joe, what do you say to the team?

a) you guys sucked, especially you Zinger — don’t laugh Jrue, you can shove your +/- up your blowhole

b) don’t worry, they won’t hit 123% of their threes next game

c) Spo is my daddy

it won’t be the same plan next game. That’s why Spo is best coach in the league.

Yeah people liked to say last year’s Caleb Martin outburst was just random variance like tonight’s hot shooting maybe but the reality of last seasons series was they didn’t give half a damn to defend the perimeter and guys had open gym looks left and right. 53% doesn’t happen by accident.

Win in all things. When you get home, get into an argument with your significant other and make sure you just bury them to make up for this.
Watch The Town and come up with at least one plan to rob the United Center of their concession money in Game 3
