Yeah, one tricky thing is he isn't stealing the number of bases that he could. Yankees aren't wanting to run him before Soto and Judge understandably.
Yup. Seems to be picking his spots more carefully, which is understandable given who’s hitting behind him. Had a nice steal of 3rd today. Looks to be on pace for a 15-20 HR / 25-30 steal campaign which, when combined with his defense, is tremendously valuable. Any talk on extension for him? Feels like a guy you’d try to lock down a bit longer, if possible, given his young age.
They have a bunch of big deals on the books already and would love to add Soto's, so I think adding any more longer-term deals will wait until they see what happens with Soto.
Also I wanted to add that NY generally doesn't do these kind of deals, for better and worse. The last two guys they already had under control who they gave extensions to were Luis Severino and Aaron Hicks, both of which were disastrous. Neither was a massive deal but both ended up as completely wasted money.
