Just out of curiosity, the Patriots could do whatever they wanted in violation of the CBA in terms of holding money so long as the NFL Players Union wasn't willing to step to the table and do something about it, right?

The other owners have an incentive to keep the cap rules firm, so the teams and Goodell could apply pressure to keep them from clearing money off the cap.

The twitter is abuzz with notions that the Pats decided he'd be released if arrested last week. If true, that tells me they've done due diligence on the cap/contract ramifications.

Maybe someone can answer this for me, why are the Patriots or NFL security allowed any access to any info regarding Hernandez?

What are the charges other than murder? I have the Fox feed up on my work computer but the speakers are too shitty to actually hear anything.

Hernandez head has to be spinning in court right now.  He'll have plenty of money for the commissary at least.  Or whatever is left over after his lawyers take a huge chunk of it.

This whole thing feels unprecedented in major US sports.

Carruth is the closest obviously, but this guy was an elite player at his position on a championship caliber team who had not even come close to peaking yet.

Gee wonder why he was cut this morning.

I assume it's more of Bill's mastery of the salary cap.  He'll be back at a much reduced price once he's cleared.

Seriously so F'n sad and senseless....
