JDE had a nice streak going to lower his ERA to 4.46 on July 16th. After 8 runs, 6 earned, in 3 innings so far today, it's 6.40.
Mercifully they finally pulled JDE after 3 more runs in the 4th.

Except, not that merciful since they brought in Jordan DiValerio & he allowed a 2-run homer to the 1st hitter.

JDE's final line (don't look if squeamish):

3.2 IP
12 runs
10 ER
10 hits
2 walks
4 strikeouts

83 pitches, 56 strikes

Luis Talavera didn't really help, allowing a hit & a walk (& there was a double steal of home), allowing both inherited runners to score.

Salem down 3-1.

Luis Guerrero pitched a 1-2-3 9th for Portland to earn his 18th save & lower his ERA to 1.55.

Corey Rosier was 3-3 with a double & a walk.

Tyler McDonough was 3-4 with a steal (17).

Nick Yorke was 2-3 with a walk.

Matthew Lugo was 2-4 (with 2 more strikeouts).
Guerrero seems like he's over his control issues post-Futures game, in 7 appearances in August he has a K/BB of 12/2 in 9.2 shutout innings. He should end up in Boston sometime next year.

Castro double, 13-4.
I know it's mostly just a heater, but I'm really starting to get aboard the Castro train. I think he's far enough away that they can leave him unprotected in the Rule 5 this year but he's starting to approach that Bonaci/Stephen Scott tier of bubble guys.

Justin Hagenman in for the 6th.

Agree on all accounts. Need to give Castro a nice bump in the next rankings.

& I'd like to see Guerrero get a long look in Spring Training next year.

YUTEN lead off double in the bottom of the 6th.

Side note: I wonder if it's weird for the players who played in the morning & early afternoon all year in the FCL to get called up & play night games.

Connor Butler in for the 6th down 4-1.
Butler pitched a scoreless 6th, despite 2 walks.

But he walked the leadoff hitter in the 7th. He stole 2nd & scored on Enderso Lira's 3rd error of the game.

Then Butler walked the next 2 hitters, too & was taken out for Michael Valera.

7-5 0 out. How can Worcester never hold any sized lead in the 9th?

Valera allowed an unearned run in the 8th with the help of Salem's 6th error of the day...a throwing error by Jhostynxon.
