Speaking of catchers I'm concerned might be injured, Andruw Musett came out of the game for DSL Red the other day & now DSL Blue is sending their 3rd catcher to DSL Red.

08/21/23 C Liosward Marin assigned to DSL Red Sox Red from DSL Red Sox Blue.

FCL Sox are tied at 1. Campbell double + Anderson triple on one side, & an unearned run in 2 innings allowed by Luis Cohen. Errors by Viloria & Nazzan made his 5th error.

Deybi Salcedo started the continued game in the 4th today with a scoreless inning, DSL Red still down 3-2.

& Musett started this game but Marin started today. So hopefully it's nothing serious.

Salcedo also pitched a scoreless 5th & 6th, & DSL Red scored 4 in the bottom of the 4th & have a 6-3 lead.

Yeferson Vargas allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in the top of the 1st for DSL Blue.

On the bright side, YOELY is playing today. On the downside, he's DHing again.

He's been playing more sporadically lately & DHing over half the time when he's in there. He was playing SS basically every day until August 4th, then was off until the 10th.

I was going to put this in the playoff picture thread, but it would probably be taken the wrong way.

Red Sox only need to be 12-26 or better the rest of the season to hit the over on their preseason win total (77.5). This makes me happy.

LuCo had another error behind him by Sierra & ended up allowing 4 runs, 2 earned, in 4 innings on 3 hits & 2 walks with 3 strikeouts.

FCL Sox continued to not play defense behind his successor, Cesar Ruiz, who allowed 2 runs, 1 earned in the 5th after an error by Kristian Campbell (his 3rd).

On the bright side, Nazzan doubled in his 3rd AB & scored on a Campbell single. FCL Sox down 6-3.

Salcedo ended up pitching 4 scoreless/hitless innings, allowing 1 walk & striking out 4.

Oscar Sanchez pitched a 1-2-3 8th with a strikeout. DSL Red up 6-3 in the 9th.

This is a useless update, but for some reason the pattern on Ruiz's stat line at the moment amuses me...

DSL Red wins 6-3.

Sanchez allowed a hit in the 9th, & got another strikeout, recording his 1st save.

Franklin Arias was 1-3 with a walk (he was 0-2 today, though).

Andruw Musett was 1-1 with a walk (he didn't play today, though).

Jancel Santana was 1-3 with a double & a walk.

Nixson Cueche & Alex Castillo were 1-3 with a walk.

Deybi Salcedo was signed for $10k on July 3rd. Since then he has pitched 8 games, 13.1 innings, allowing 5 hits & 2 walks, while striking out 19.

1.35 ERA, 0.53 WHIP.

Deybi turned 19 on July 5th, 2 days after he was signed. For some reason the guys who are signed in the middle of the season are more fascinating to me. I think that's also a pretty cool name.

Side note: when I Googled "Deybi Salcedo" the Houck, Line Drives & Sinkers thread was the 10th result.

He struck out the last guy. You can do the math.

Yonfi Rodriguez pitched the last inning, allowing 2 walks but no runs.

FCL Sox lost the 7-inning game 1 6-3.

Kristian Campbell was 2-3 with a triple & a walk.

NAZZAN & Antonio Anderson were both 1-3 with a double & a walk.

Stanley Tucker was 1-3 with a double.

DSL Red Sox had the 2nd game of their doubleheader suspended in the bottom of the 1st after not scoring in the top of the 1st.

DSL Blue lost 6-3.

STARLYN may be finally breaking out of that slump...he was 3-5 with 3 doubles, after a 6-42 stretch (.143) which saw his average fall from .367 to .317.

YOELY was 1-5 & is clearly still broken.

Raimundo De Los Santos was 2-5 with a steal (12). He's on the opposite streak from Starlyn, going 16-49 (.327), raising his average from .161 to .221.

Luis Arredondo was 1-3 with a double & a walk.

Pitching...

Yeferson pitched 2.2 & allowed 4 runs.

Enrique Carta pitched 2.1 & allowed 1 unearned run.

Alisson Del Orbe pitched 2 scoreless innings with 1 hit & 3 strikeouts to lower his ERA to 1.23.

Aaron Liranzo pitched 2 innings & allowed 1 run.

Game 2 of the FCL Sox is delayed in the top of the 3rd down 4-0. Nazzan is 0-0 with a hbp & a walk.

Luis De La Rosa (#2 on that video) has some interesting looking stuff.

He was part of that Benny trade.
