The PawSox will need to make a transaction before adding RDLR back to the roster for today's start. After activating Jayson Hernandez from the DL last night (filling Mookie's spot) they're currently at 13 pitchers and 12 position players.

Rich Hill, who had an opt-out date yesterday, was still with the club last night so it appears he's decided to stay on.

Uhhh... About that.

Los Angeles Angels ‏@Angels 56m
#Angels have acquired LHP Rich Hill from Boston & selected his contract to Major League roster. Michael Kohn has been optioned to Salt Lake.

The trade is for "cash considerations".

Good on the Sox for rewarding a loyal arm by sending him to a club where he can pitch in the majors again and earn more coin.

Am I missing something or wasn't this a favor the other way? Couldn't Hill have just opted out and signed with the Angels outright? Instead he allowed the Sox to move him to a favorable destination while getting something in return. Could he have been picked up on waivers for a destination he did not want, is that what I'm missing?

As long as it isn't for Kevin Cash.
Well he could always catch Mike Kopec

The Angels opportunity may not have been apparent to Hill when he decided not to opt out yesterday. Had he known, yes, he could have opted out and signed with LAA without the Sox getting a dime.

If Hill did know about it, then yes, he did Ben and the Sox a nice solid.

Pawtucket also granted RHP Chris Resop his release, leaving the team with 25 active players.

Was at the PawSox game last night.
A pretty unimpressive evening all around. The only noteworthy thing was Vasquez's arm which I'm sure I don't need to tell anyone is legit. He threw out 2 of 3 stealing and it should have been 3 of 3 as the third throw easily beat the runner but was on a short hop and McCoy didn't do a great job of the catch and tag and the runner got in. If he can hit at all he will be a stud.
Carp and Middlebrooks looked awful, don't be fooled by the triple it was an excuse me flare that was barely fair down the rightfield line and got by the rightfielder. It was so barely fair that the rightfielder got tossed for arguing that it was foul(looked in to me).
I missed the first inning and the 4 runs scored(stupid traffic) but even in the later innings Ruby didn't look great though he showed some flashes.

As an FYI Mikie Mahtook for the Rays looks like a ballplayer. Hit a couple balls hard, flew from first to third on a single and looked good in Center from what I saw.
