Yosander Asencio got a hit in the 1st. He is now hitting .667. Just saying.

FCL Sox got a run in the 1st on an error, that hit, & a groundout.

Adam Bates (who autocorrect originally wanted to call "Adam Hates" which is very appropriate with the thread title) is starting for the FCL Sox.

The 18 y/o Australian who signed for $200k in September will be making his org debut.

No Musett or Yoely today, & still no Starlyn since the 1st game when he hit a 3-run homer & made 3 errors.

This is not one of the more impressive defenses I've seen...

They have a catcher at 1B & another in LF.

Noria is mostly an OF but he did play 7 games at 3B last year.

& Sierra hasn't played OF since 11 games in '22 & played entirely at 1B last year.

Rough debut inning for Bates.

Struck out his 1st hitter, but the 2nd one hit a HR (can't blame the defense).

There was a double to Gerardo Rodriguez that who knows if it was catchable, but last year he played 20 games at C, 12 at 1B & 6 at DH.

Bryan Acuna got injured on that double & had to come out.

The single to Kelvin Diaz I assume was legit since he's a good fielder.

Anyway, FCL Sox down 2-1.

For what it’s worth, I’m on the train down to Buffalo from Toronto. Hoping Eddy Alvarez is in the lineup, but if he isn’t, it’s still baseball and baseball is fun…

Jesus Garcia pitched 2.1 scoreless (or as autocorrect calls it "Skenes"), 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 strikeout.

Cristofer Soriano pitched a scoreless 6th.

They only played 7 innings, & they lost 6-5.

Frederik Jimenez was 1-2 with 2 walks.

Gerardo Rodriguez was 1-3 a walk & a steal.

Yosander Asencio & Kleyver Salazar were 1-3 with a walk.

Franklin Arias & Franyer Noria were 1-4 with a steal.

Armando Sierra was 1-4.

Would be nice for Greenville offense to show some life outside of Campbell.

My guy Castro is having a rough May, after an .800 ops April. A .310 OBP this month to date after over .400 last month.

So far Greenville is 1-10 with an infield single & 5 strikeouts.

Some solid defense to help Dalton Rogers through 4 scoreless innings, despite 4 walks, though.

After a mediocre pitching performance by Uwasawa (3 runs in 4 innings), a disastrous performance by Justin Hagenman (6 runs in 1.2 innings), a wild but successful Adón outting (1.1 IP, 0 runs, 3 bb), & yet another awful Benitez outting (3 runs in 0.2 IP), it was Eddy Alvarez time.

Niko was 1-2 with a homer, a walk & a hbp.

Alvarez was also 1-3 with a sac fly & 2 RBI.

Westbrook was 1-3 with a walk.

Meidroth was 1-4 with a walk.

For Portland, after Wikelman, The Kwiat Assassin settled things down a bit, allowing 1 run in 3 innings on 3 hits, a walk & 4 strikeouts.

Brendan Cellucci was awful, though...in 0.2 innings he allowed 3 runs on a homer & 5 walks.

Cody Scroggins pitched the last 2.1 & allowed a run.

Portland lost 9-6.

Paulino was 3-5 with a triple, a double, 3 rbi & a steal (4).

Yorke was 3-5 with a steal (6).

Mayer was 2-5 with a double.

Binelas was 1-2 with a double & 2 walks.

McDonough was 1-3 with a walk & a steal.

10 innings without a hit is pretty good. Weins allowed 2 runs in the 11th on 2 walks & a hit.

Salem up 4-3 with runners on 2nd & 3rd, no outs. Max Carlson in.

Both runners scored on a sac fly & Salem lost 5-4.

Despite 9 innings of shutout no-hit baseball from Dean & O'Donnell.
