What a beautiful game by Houck! THAT… in today’s game is how to pitch! Despite that gem….I still don’t believe anymore. My stupid optimism I had up until Grady’s Day (and returned from October’24 for almost 20 full years) has been replaced by the feeling that nothing will go right. Every pitcher will give up a HR to every batter. Every batter will K against the opposing pitcher. Every good player will struggle, slump or get injured.
Bernadissimo takes mound to wrap up the series. Day game.

Carrasco has been middling since 2018. Time to give him a drubbing.

I almost made a joke yesterday that a catcher should DH but I was not being serious. This lineup is horrible my god

The lineup that was tweeted:

Today’s lineup for the Red Sox finale against the Guardians:
1. Jarren Duran LF
2. Triston Casas 1B
3. Wilyer Abreu RF
4. Enmanuel Valdez 2B
5. Connor Wong DH
6. David Hamilton SS
7. Pablo Reyes 3B
8. Reese McGuire C
9. Ceddanne Rafaela CF

Brennan Bernardino will work as the opener. Cooper Criswell will follow. 1:35 first pitch.
Yikes. The Boston Woo Sox are going to be very challenged to score runs today. Luckily we are going with an opener too, that never goes badly.

Something something reverse lock.

Good a time as any for these guys to break out. Carrasco has had a good start to the year, but his stuff has never been strikeout stuff.

Wongers DH'ing and batting 5th is something I wouldn;t have expected in 2022 to see in 2024, but can't it's undeserved, relatively.

Last night's game was so enjoyable, even with one eye closed. (Cataract surgery yesterday.)
No matter what happens this season, we'll always have that 1:49 to look back on.
Geaux, Sox!

DH - Connor Wong. Nope never ever saw that coming. Hard to believe this is our starting lineup in BOSTON not Worchester. I don't know what the recent record for a Red Sox starting lineup is with the fewest Plate appearances collectively but this has got to be a contender.

Tom Caron on High Heat: Tyler O’Neil worked out yesterday, felt fine. Team is being cautious, but if he feels fine after today the expectation is he will be in the lineup in Pittsburgh.

Yoshida will DH tomorrow.

Looks like they just put him on the 7-day IL.

It’s amazing what 180 million gets you these days. Supply chain! Inflation! Gaaaah

Would be lower if little Raffy didn't get an extension. Would be at the minimum. Reese gets paid the big bucks for pulling the big bat.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Also, what's the deal with talking about 1:49 as though Houck was the only factor there? A couple of big innings on the Sox's part resulting in pitching changes, and that's easily over 2 hours.
