That was impressive for Houck since he has struggled so much with getting past three times through the line up. The whole starting pitching staff has been way better than expected.

The call on the field had to be that he did not touch first base. It cannot be interference because the ball did not hit him. Being in fair territory is not enough to be called out after overruning first base. You have to make an attempt toward second base, which he never did. Even a slight attempt will be enough, but he didn't. Gotta just be a put out for not touching the base, which looked close on replay.

Just terrible luck that the guy backing up the throw was right there and made the attempt to tag him.
That wasn't terrible luck, that was the reigning platinum glove winner vs. a dumb runner.

Yeah, definitely smart play. Lots of fielders would have just thrown it back to the pitcher, but it was kind of unlucky that the overthrow went right to him in the spot where the runner was.

I feel like this has the makings of a watershed moment for the team. You've got a young player who's got all the tools to succeed but hasn't quite put them together, who's struggled mightily to become a viable starting pitcher, who's suffered a significant injury last year and worked his way back, and then he turns this in. "They say I can't go three times through? Fuck it, I'll throw a CGSO."

I'm fucking pumped. Let's keep it going tomorrow.

That might be the worst hitting outfield I’ve ever seen. Damon Buford cornered by Donnie Sadler and Darren Lewis.
Creighton Gubanich? No recollection of that dude. Must have been a getaway day.

I’m gonna rewatch this one because I was doing other stuff through most of it, except the top of the ninth. I figure why not? It won’t take too long :)

Got an alert of a final score and did a double take when I saw the time.

Incredible

Pedro pitching a perfect game for Montreal in 1995, being shown on Roku. 0-0 after 9, in San Diego. Pedro @ 96 pitches, I think.

edit, 92 pitches. Pedro lifted.

edit, bip roberts, of all people, got a double to lead off the tenth.

Expos win it 1-0. Pedro gets the win.
