We got crap games offensively from JT and DWhite with very little from the bench and Jrue only coming on late and the game came down to the end. It's a good loss, they can build off it

Joker complains after every call.. it’s ridiculous.. fuck that guy and his pretending to not care attitude.. fucking poser

Edit: he and Murray complained all game after almost every possession.. while ahead!?$!@&$! Sosh heads would explode if we had players like that

I know single game +/- is meaningless, but sometimes it matches the eye test. JB and KP the only positive players tonight. Fun game though. I liked the fight to the end, but this is how Nuggets win - get out to a lead and then hold on because when they need points they seem to always just be able to post up Jokic and get two points.

Think we are seeing why they were messing with 2 big lineups. Nobody has an answer for Jokic but KP looks especially poor against him 1 v 1 and we are over helping and paying as a result. Setting aside all the specifics of this game we will need some type of plan of we see these guys in a finals because any close and late situation is liable to go the same way with Jokic facing no real resistance
Why not Kornet who's been playing well lately?

The bigger issue, imo, was going double big with Al/Tillman when Joker was off the floor.

So many Celtic fans in here hoping they lose so they can continue to blame Tatum for everything as they have all game
Hoping they lose? That would be an odd thing for a Celtics fan to want.

Two very disappointing games to start this road trip. Stagnated offense. Stupid play. Missed FTs. Star player did not show up.

Tatum is unreal. One of the the best players i have ever rooted for

i honestly think he shoots 0% in the shots to tie or take the lead late. I can’t remember one he has hit.

I don’t know, probably should have been worth a shot. Of course there are very few guys in the league who can even slow Jokic down but it seems like you need some serious size and strength to keep him from just getting so deep so easily. Not sure if Kornet can stop the back down but KP sure wasn’t.

He’s hit a bunch in his career, but this year has been very ugly in that regard.

Haven’t most of those been more other people crashing Jokic leaving Gordon?
Tatum needed to switch onto the dunker once JB went to help on Jokic. Tatum missed st least six box out and switch assignments tonight.

Hope someone else takes them out somehow. Jokic is like Embiid except he can play the whole game and you can't turn him over by doubling on his spin move like you can with Embiid because he has eyes in the back of his head and impeccable footwork.

All that said I thought they defended OK tonight even with Tatum not seeming fully engaged. Given the FT bullshit they played them even all night.

Really sucks to have gotten an empty gym look to take the lead and miss it.

there's really nothing you can do with jokic. he had like a 4 game swoon in december where he missed everything but otherwise when hes like this hes one of the best to ever do it.

missed 3's are whatever (and denver had a whole bunch too), they cut down on the backdoor stuff, but the turnovers are killers (and missed FTs but what can you really do about that besides try to make) them)

maybe his hand was bothering him or they wanted to ride w/ jb but tatum did not have the ball in his hand a whole lot in the 2h

You've never been in a Patriots game thread when they give up a 1st down on a 3rd and 8?
Someone last year said Tatum was faking an injury in Game 7 against the Heat.

That was incredibly fucking stupid but it’s not as ridiculous as saying that Celtics fans want the team to lose so they can blame Tatum (by far the most popular player on the team). That’s just impossibly dumb to actually type out and post

I don’t know any Celtics fans who root against Tatum. But to pretend like he didn’t have a horrible game would be hard..

Jrue just made two tough 3s and then JB forced a critical turnover.
And that wasn’t enough. When the needed stops, they missed assignments and didn’t get them. When they had a three on two off a TO, they chose to shoot a three and didn’t make it.

He's like Embiid, except that he's good at basketball in the playoffs.

I think one answer is you make him work harder on the other end and see if you can at least tire him out a bit on that end.

Too many quick drive and kick threes when you had opportunities all night to drive. When they attacked they were able to get what they wanted most of the time and Jokic isn't going to expend too much energy if you are whipping the ball around and moving.

11-38 from three - that makes them 5-10 in games when they shoot under 30% from three, I think.

KP looked like he might get hot, but ended up 3-10 from three on good looks for him. DWhite had a warmup 3 not go down, Tatum in the corner, etc. All the other stats are pretty even. They had four more turnovers, but five more offensive rebounds. That game was there for the taking.

First Celtic with 40+ points and 7+ FT misses in a game since Paul Pierce's MOTHERFUCKING TRUTH game in LA, 2001. Only other Celtic to do that? Ed Macauley in 1953.

There are several on this board that are waiting for him to have a bad game so they can blame him for anything that goes wrong.. even tonite.. he’s having a bad game and people say he needs to be more active.. he starts aggressively going to the lane .. and then it’s ’hero ball’.

He was 1-11 on potential game tying or go ahead shots in the final 10 seconds or OT this season. Tonight wasn't that late in the game but pretty close.

would recommend everyone chill out a bit. they lost 2 tight games back to back, including one they really shouldnt have been in (tonight). maybe the latter fact is more meaningful. the reality is if they're not hitting 3's they are at a top-top-tier premium talent disadvantage vs denver. they legit threw everything they could at jokic and it didnt particularly matter. it was also a pretty close game w/ 2 poor 3p fg shooting games and 1 poor FT shooting game. turnover disparity was a killer as well. if it comes to it in the finals they will have to lock in and see what happens.

I hope they meet in June. I think Joe will have a plan to punish them if they try Jokic on Jrue again. I also think they will mix defenses more. Thought they played it pretty vanilla tonight.

They need all five starters to be on their A game against these guys. And some strong bench play. I'm with you. I would not be optimistic in a seven game series against them.

Dude….this is such a ridiculous take that I really hope you don’t believe it. No one wants Tatum to have a bad game.

Marcus Morris was my least favorite Celtic ever. I actively didn’t like him. I still hoped he would score 70 points every time out because it would help the Celtics win.

I honestly have no idea how anyone could believe this

I said waiting.. not wanting. So you didn’t like Morris. How would you describe what you think about Tatum.. for what it’s worth.. I’ve basically stopped commenting on your takes after you changed your user name, I think?

one more thing- giving up 10 steals is a recipe for absolute disaster. 10 dead possession and 10 chances at insanely high value fast breaks for the opponent.

You might not want to believe it but these fans exist. I have a friend who never texts me when Tatum has a real good game against a good team but can’t wait to hammer him in games like this.

I like Tatum. Think he’s a top 5 player in the league, thank you for asking my opinion on him

If you wanted to do a SSS takeaway from the last two games, its that beyond Jokic's brilliance, the Nuggets size overall is a problem for Boston.

Both KP and Horford were outmuscled by Gordon and Watson was a problem for them too. Denver wants Tillman minutes - for as good as he is on D and passing-wise - because the Cs lose ground on the offensive end. They can (must)clean up the back cuts but not really sure how to deal with the length/athletic mismatches Denver has for them.

The Nuggets are a problem like Boston in that if you take away something they have a lot of other very good options.

They are also very closely matched.
