I root for Hamilton and Dalbec, but neither has done anything this spring to make it look like they should be on the major league club. Hamilton still can't even play average defense and can't hit, Dalbec still hasn't looked good at anything since 2021.

I’m wondering if Romy G takes Dalbec’s job. A year younger, plays more positions (including SS), has *two* options remaining, and had big power numbers in the minors for CWS before hurting his shoulder, which he’s now *hopefully* come back from.

He's looking nice on D today, I'd be fine with that.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
B-Squad going today: Duran and Abreu are the only regulars. Criswell goest 3.2 scoreless against the Pirates.

Opening day: 3-28, with the last spring training day being the 26th. 14 Spring Training games left (not including split squad.)

This feels like No Urgency Cora to me.

There are so many question marks on this squad, and they need a strong start if they're going to have a better chance to compete at all this year.

This game is putting me to sleep, especially
1) Joe Jacques and 2) this interview with Cron.
Edit: nice DP to end the inning saves us from more Cron. Thanks, guys.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
Whenever game threads are this quiet, even during spring training, I irrationally worry there's some kind of national crisis unfolding that I'm unaware of.

After 2 errors, Mayer makes a routine play to get that fielding percentage all the way up to .333 this game.

Update:
Mayer now hitting 1.000 and fielding .333 this game.

Mayer keeping the hair tight this year huh? Didn't he have a pretty good salad on top before?

8th inning of a 1:05 start. Fans should have no trouble getting to the early-bird with this one.

Horrible base running, and perhaps, third base coaching, to run into a disgusting double play. I’m at the game, and the general mood of the crowd went from elation on the hit to absolute disgust with the double play.

Water!

The pitching lineup today was not the most inspiring:
Criswell, Jacques, Shugart, Cam Booser, Jorge Benitez, and Leutge.

Of course they combined to throw a shutout.

When the game ended, Kyle Hudson came over to talk to some people behind home plate. A lot of the people that were slow to get out of the part started pointing at him and saying that’s the guy that sent the guy from third base! It’s spring training and the Sox won so nobody cares too much, but there was still a lot of literal finger, pointing at the third base coach!

Did Hudson send them home?

Yes, but they were blocked on their way to the (dinner) plate by the traffic on Daniels Parkway and ended up out in the parking lot…

Is Stanley Milgram coaching 3rd?
this was funny. well, even if it's not a great thing for baserunners always deferring to the 3rd base coach's authority, I can appreciate the idea expressed in Bull Durham that pitchers can only hurt the team by thinking independently. Probably not what's causing Bello's problems today--hope that's just a minor blip.
