Bronny James declared for the draft today, and is also entering the transfer portal, keeping his options open. Help me understand the "declaring for the draft" notion. This is simply a gambit to play with his father, right? I mean, the kid is a 4-star recruit, averaged like 5 points a game in 25 games for a mediocre USC team and wouldn't sniff an NBA roster otherwise. His father is a billionaire so I suppose his loss of NIL money doesn't matter to him, plus, we can all see future commercials with Lebron and Bronny, so financially, he has no concerns. But he's not an NBA player, not by a longshot, and he may never be. Seems incredibly short sighted to hit the NBA, watch his dad retire in 2 years, then what? Will teams keep him for the name after that?
