it takes so much energy too, that can't help.I just do not get the yelling at his box as if they are doing something wrong...it is funny to watch.
I am sure no one around him has called him on his shit since he showed true tennis talents years ago and this is what you end up with.I just think his brain is not wired for the consistent focus one needs to be a truly top player, his talent can overcome that sometimes but not often enough.
And it takes almost no time to review these calls.Challenge system is so dumb. Just make the correct call.
I don’t understand why Wimbledon hasn’t moved to the Australian Open always on Hawkeye, removing the need for line judges. Is it happening next year? There’s really no reason for any delay.Challenge system is so dumb. Just make the correct call.
Not looking great for that outcome.I want another set.
Totally. Guy really put it all aside and then just mentioned how exhausted he is. And apparently Novak has to take him out to dinner now.Kyrgios with the first interesting runner-up interview in the history of ever, opening the door for Djokovic to make the classy “Nick, you’ll be back” remark. Good sportsmanship.
I doubt it, but I do hope he sees that it doesn't make him an "individual" to flout years and years of tradition and respect for a sport that pays him a lot of money.Does he get fined for the red hat? What’s the protocol here?
I have to agree. It is not like he's a teenager who needs to mature more just arriving on the scene. He is 27 and is clearly entrenched in this mindset and approach to the game.Fun match, but Krygios isn't going to break through to a new level, people need to stop with that. His brain just can't stay focused enough, his talent can't consistently bail him out.
Absolutely!John can get fucked. The politicians are getting in his way. It’s the same rule for everyone. It’s too bad Novak can’t follow it but why should he get an exception because he’s the best in the world at his sport.
He almost lost twice earlier in this tournament, five setters against much inferior players. I like him (I am not totally sure why) but I will be a bit surprised if he ever makes another Slam final.I have to agree. The situation in Australia was pretty obviously politically motivated. They let him in the country knowing his history under an exception he legally applied for. They got called out (possibly correctly!) for having double standards for the rich by the Aussie press. Then the prime minister, in the middle of a contentious election season, personally stepped in to deport him.John can get fucked. The politicians are getting in his way. I know next to nothing about the Australian court system and I haven’t found anything about the severity of the assault allegations so I think it’s hard to say. I basically was able to find he has a hearing on August 2nd. So we’ll see. What potential penalty is Krygios facing when he heads to court?
Good point. I do remember the back and forth now. I also don’t think you or I would even get into Australia under an exception but if we did, we would most certainly fly under the radar. I still think it’s a bit shortsighted to assume that exceptional athletes should be granted exceptions if other people are not. It’s not like the unseeded player who barely qualified is getting extra consideration or international headlines because he/she won’t or can’t show proof of vaccination status. If he has to miss out on a few tournaments between last year and this year in what could be the tail end of his career, that’s his loss. The situation in Australia was pretty obviously politically motivated. You say the rules should apply the same for everyone, but that cuts both ways. I doubt the PM is personally deporting you or me from Australia after I’ve already been let through by border control.
This by the way is why Kyrgios and Djokovic get along now. They used to hate each other something fierce. But Kyrgios pointed out that the Aussie government was full of shit, not because he is anti-vax like many have speculated, but because the government was full of shit.
He’s basically already qualified. Any grand slam winner in the top 20 automatically qualifies. 20th in the rankings is about 1600 points in a year and he’s already got 1900 points right now if he doesn’t play another tournament.Despite winning Wimbledon for the 4th straight year, Djokovic will fall from 3 to 7 in the rankings as no points were awarded by the ATP. Unless the rules change and doesn’t play in the US Open it’s likely he falls out of the top 10 and will be hard pressed to reach the ATP finals.
I thought the finals was just for the top 8 guys? I guess I didn’t know about the major winners getting an auto berth. He’s basically already qualified. I don’t think it’s ever been used, but yeah grand slam winners get priority for the 8th spot. The 8th spot only goes to the player ranked 8th if all grand slam winners are in the top 7.I thought the finals was just for the top 8 guys?
