Yeah fair, and I don't disagree but that just seems to be the going rate, or even just below it, for elite closers these days. Hendriks is on 3/54 currently, Jansen I think just finished a 5/80 deal which paid him 20mm in 2021, Aroldis Chapman will make 18mm next year in the final year of a 3/48.If he stays healthy, that’s about $200-250k per inning pitched, or about the same as the Mets will pay Scherzer.
That’s not a knock on Iglesias — he’s one of the best relievers in the game. I just wonder if any pitcher is worth that much.
