Turner calling Joe Torre out. Fucking hysterical.
"he's sitting right there with his head down trying not to look up!"
"he's sitting right there with his head down trying not to look up!"
That's not the rule. He's allowed to take a direct path to the bag.He did touch the grass. Technically shouldn't do that.
The ball got there after Turner. Had Turner stayed in the running lane, he would have been safe. BS callThe thing is if the runner is running inside the lane, as he clearly was the entire time except maybe the final step, it changes the ability to make a good throw, it cuts off the potential angle, which is why I don't agree with that Passan tweet above.
Try not to pay too much attention to things Smoltz says.Smoltz just said they're taught to throw it at the runner. What?
Yes. I was taught that too.Smoltz just said they're taught to throw it at the runner. What?
I heard that and instantly thought that just can’t be trueSmoltz just said they're taught to throw it at the runner. What?
Yes, I've heard this before, because otherwise the call isn't made usually.Smoltz just said they're taught to throw it at the runner. What?
Bellingerthere was a play in last year's playoffs, I honestly forget if it was vs Astros or Dodgers, but Vazquez throwing to 1st hit a runner who was entirely inside the baseline, and there was no call. I seemed to be the only one who cared. To call this one is horrible.
That’s a really good point.Don't know if it will be overturned but I don't understand sending the runner that was on first back to first.
Because that is the only way there is interference.Smoltz just said they're taught to throw it at the runner. What?
Then he should have run in the lane, he had plenty of time to get there as he was going down the line. The ball got there after Turner. Had Turner stayed in the running lane, he would have been safe. BS call
I've seen the Red Sox do that years ago. Runner isn't in the lane, Varitek picks it up, drills the guy in the back. OutSmoltz just said they're taught to throw it at the runner. What?
Yes, that's my understanding of the rule as well. I don't care who wins this, I just remember the Sox getting called on something like that not too long ago. I've never liked it but that's my understanding of the rule. The thing is if the runner is running inside the lane, as he clearly was the entire time except maybe the final step, it changes the ability to make a good throw, it cuts off the potential angle, which is why I don't agree with that Passan tweet above.
