It's a tip off. The Patriots are moving to Hartford! It's hard for me to imagine Brady moving on to another team, if only because there's not another setting that can give him what the Patriots provide. I could imagine him retiring; I doubt he will telegraph his last year whenever he decides to hang it up.
Reading the tea leaves is tough. Brady is rumored to have bought a new house in Connecticut: https://nesn.com/2019/10/nfl-rumors-tom-brady-gisele-purchase-home-in-another-new-england-state/. Must mean he's staying with the Patriots until he's 50!

Please be New Canaan, please be New Canaan...That article leaves out what part of CT the house is in.
Is the house in NE CT, maybe an hour or so to Foxboro?
Or is it in Greenwich, convenient to NYC for Gisele.
Its Bristol. Please be New Canaan, please be New Canaan...
Also, retiring at 43 is not inconsistent with "wanting to play til he's 45."Volin's thesis (yes, I read it, so my apologies) is that if Brady goes anywhere after this season, it's to his post-NFL career. I cannot disagree, no matter who wrote it. If Brady wins #7, I would definitely put his odds of retirement at better than 50/50. In his public remarks over the past multiple months, he has gone from "I want to play until I'm 45" to at least leaving the door ajar by acknowledging reality.
If he does decide to play one more season, he will have some leverage on the terms of his return, which is what he wanted, and what the Kraft's have always implied he would get.
I dont know how cute Schefter gets, but "least likely" is a nice headline but also includes 34.3%-33.3%-32.3% possibilities of the 3 listed outcomes. So its basically indicipherable from the other two.Schefter is really leaning into this with no sources to back it up.

I actually kind of like it being out there in the open to be talked about rather than just waking up to an unhappy text next year. Having it be out there means it is percolating with Kraft, Belichick, and Brady and makes it less likely that anything will be impulsive. My problem with Schefter’s commentary on this is that he presents himself as a reporter, not an analyst or commentator, so when he rolls out a take like this people validly assume he’s basing it on information WE DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO.
Then he walks it back (I guess?) by saying he isn’t ‘reporting’ anything.
Well, what the fuck is he doing opening his mouth at all? My guess is he is staking out ground in the event Tom does leave so we remember that Schefter called it, and he gets to wade into the lucrative, more fun pool of sports talking head without committing to it wholesale.
If Steve Young said that shit, the reaction would be more muted because Young is paid to commentate, not report. The take itself is not the problem, it’s the delivery.
Bears?Where would he go? Where is a situation that's run extremely well that just happens to need a quarterback, that can contend for the title right now? There isn't one.
I and others above mentioned the Bears or Carolina as at least possibilities, and it's also possible some other team would be willing to make a major trade or eat cap stuff to make room for him. But as others have said, why in God's name would Brady want to work his ass off to fit into a new system for, what, a year? Maybe two max?Where would he go? Where is a situation that's run extremely well that just happens to need a quarterback, that can contend for the title right now? There isn't one.
The counter to this is that Brady doesn't think like you and I do. Whatever the actual odds are of Brady going to Chicago or wherever and winning a Super Bowl, they are much higher in Brady's mind. He's not going anywhere guys. His success at this point is built on the trust and communication he has with Josh, Edelman, White, etc. He can't go somewhere else and create that over night. It's Pats or retirement.
100%. Just watch the segment. As soon as he gets a huge reaction to saying "staying in NE is least likely," he backpedals a bit, and then makes clear that all he's saying is that since Brady and Guerrero are both selling their homes, there is some writing is on the wall.Schefter, like everyone else in that business, has, out of necessity, become a content creator. I don't think he makes things up out of whole cloth, but the days of him being strictly an inside information/reporter have been over a while.
Yeah, who really knows but starting to get the same feeling as with Gronk. I think the end of the season may play a role here. If #7 happens, I think he hangs them up. If they lose a heartbreaker in AFCCG or SB, I see the drive in him giving it one more shot. In any event, I don’t see Brady as the starting QB in 2021.Win more.
Still sorta of feels like there is more than a little smoke here even if it’s hard to discern where it’s coming from.
The reason he might come back again is because he's said OVER AND OVER that he absolutely LOVES playing football and it's his passion. And he's said that even after having kids, and even after establishing TB12. If you're one of the world's best at it and you still love it, that's plenty of reason to keep going. If the team does the improbable this year and avenges what happened in 2007, I see absolutely no reason that Brady would keep going other than wanting to do it again if the same defense comes back. After all, the only thing more impressive than doing something no team has ever done is doing it again the very next year.
Ring #8?I'm of the mind that Brady's retiring at the end of the year. I mean after 19-0, what's left for him?
You think old man Brady is putting a starch in his body?Life is short. Be with his kids. What’s one more championship going to matter when he’s eating mashed potatoes in the old folks home?
Hey!! Who you callin' a non-lunat....oh wait.Could he be as great as he is if he weren't severely dysfunctional in at least some respects?
He's not a supremely gifted athlete. He probably is top 1 percent in eye hand coordination, but, like, so are way more people than will ever play professional sports. He actually was a sixth round pick for a reason.
He achieves by sheer force of will, competitiveness, and preparation.
He's obviously a fucking lunatic. Once you eliminate money as a motive, predicting what or why a lunatic does anything is very hard for non-lunatics.
I'm NOT totally disagreeing with you, but wasn't he drafted by the Expos (as a catcher I think)? That implies he had some athletic ability beyond the eye hand coordination doesn't it?Could he be as great as he is if he weren't severely dysfunctional in at least some respects?

Well, isn't hand-eye coordination the single most important athletic trait for a baseball player (non-pitching division)? What QBs are less athletic than Sandy Leon?I'm NOT totally disagreeing with you, but wasn't he drafted by the Expos (as a catcher I think)? ETA: NOT
That still doesn't say it was his only skill... though you are obviously correct. I'm just saying that being drafted in two sports implies he has SOME skills beyond the one we are giving him credit for.Well, isn't hand-eye coordination the single most important athletic trait for a baseball player (non-pitching division)? View: https://twitter.com/MutAtNightWEEI/status/1187522798924767232BTW, Curran said on his podcast today that Guerrero has bought a house in Plymouth.
What if she bought a team? This is dumb. Brady has young kids. As much as Gisele hates him continuing to play, no way is she signing off on everyone moving to Chicago or San Diego for a year. He’s not going anywhere else to play and I’ll lay straight cash on that, homies.
Ballers already had its series finale. What if she bought a team?
