People are fucked when it comes to sports. ANYONE who justifies that shit in any way is a complete shithead. For example, there are lots of people, including some blue checkmarks, who are calling Mayfield out for not having Garrett's back, whatever that means.
Anyone who thinks Garrett is the potential DPOY after that display isn't worth much
My bad. I meant Rudolph. DanoooME said some NFLN guys said Rudolph started it.By sacking the QB after the ball was already out of his hand on a meaningless play in garbage time. He instigated the whole thing and I don't blame Rudolph one bit for reacting the way he did.
probably talking about this from the PFT storyMy bad. I meant Rudolph. DanoooME said some NFLN guys said Rudolph started it.
Replays showed that Rudolph tried to rip off Garrett’s helmet before trying to kick him.
Yea the nfl is mass delusion but pouncey wasn’t in the wrong here. He might get fined and suspended and I hate him but I don’t blame him at all for what he didI mean....the NFL is amazing. Its like mass delusion.

He told the press that he was so upset at the moment, he didn't even remember what he didYea the nfl is mass delusion but pouncey wasn’t in the wrong here. He might get fined and suspended and I hate him but I don’t blame him at all for what he did
Rudolph isn’t innocent but if you look at some responses by Steelers fans to some tweets you’d think Garrett was. They’re ridiculousJust saw the entire video on SC. Rudolph does indeed grab Garrett's helmet and tries to pull it off from behind, then kicks him in the groin after Garrett takes him to the turf after the ball was thrown.
Doesn't excuse at all what Garrett did in response, but it does show that Rudolph isn't a total innocent.
2 games? Nah ... he's done for the yearWhat do people think garret will actually get suspended (now what he should). After Kareem got six but then tyreek got nothing I think it’s entirely random. I’m guessing 2
You think so? I think he should be but can’t see the nfl doing that to a good player but maybe I’m too cynical after the suspensions they’ve given other guys2 games? Nah ... he's done for the year
Fair enough and I get that the players feel a need to recognize stuff like this. However a player tried to brain another guy and people are taking time out to make sure we note Pouncey the hero when the guy and his brother may have actually committed worse acts.Yea the nfl is mass delusion but pouncey wasn’t in the wrong here. I agree with that actually he shouldn’t be called a hero at all. Misunderstood what you were sayingFair enough and I get that the players feel a need to recognize stuff like this. Wow. If that guy made that post with a straight face, he's got better muscle control than Jim Carrey.Appalling to watch this fight in real time. But also wondering just what set Garrett off that badly, and looked for an alternative explanation. Along the way to not finding the core motivation (did Rudolph say or do something egregious beforehand, or...), I came across a detailed description of the events of the fight. On the Dawg Pound NFL Nation site, of course. Not to condone the violence, but it is interesting to see an opposing fan's view of the events surrounding the helmet wielding assault.
Dawgs by Nature: Myles vs Mason Fight
The commentary by someone called betaparticle below the GIF is interesting. I didn't change the quote, but put line spacing between the major events of the fight.
"Myles finishes a tackle that he could have let go, but we don't know if he knew the ball had been thrown.
Mason attacks Myles by trying for several seconds to wrench Myles' helmet off, twisting and shoving the helmet in multiple directions.
Myles retaliates and grabs Mason's helmet, but doesn't really twist, until...
Mason places his right foot cleats first into Myles groin and pushes off.
Myles having just been nutted retaliates and rips Mason's helmet off violently.
Myles is removed from the situation by DeCastro, who seems to be in peacemaker mode the entire time (cheers to DeCastro).
Myles appears to calm down as he doesn't make a single aggressive move towards DeCastro nor does he try to move back towards Mason. The scrum is effectively ended, until... Mason gets up off the ground, moves aggressively towards Myles and starts pushing and grabbing at Myles even though Garrett no longer poses a threat or displays aggressiveness towards Rudolph.
Only after about 1.5-2.0 seconds of being pushed and grabbed by Rudolph does Garrett retaliate with the helmet swing. Garrett still never makes an aggressive move towards DeCastro.
Having been clubbed with a helmet, Rudolph decides to retreat and ask for a flag.
Simultaneous to Rudolph's retreat, DeCastro takes Myles to the ground.
Pouncey punches Myles 3 times in the head as DeCastro is taking Garrett to the ground.
DeCastro effectively pins Garrett.
Garrett goes passive, doesn't resist being pinned.
Pouncey punches the completely restrained and passive Myles once more in the head.
Garrett remains restrained and passive.
Pouncey stands up to kick Garrett in the head one time.
Garrett remains restrained and passive.
Pouncey gets back on the ground and punches Myles in the head one last time."
Garrett was lucky, beyond lucky, that the helmet swing resulted in the bottom of the helmet, which is padded, connecting with Rudolph's head. Because it's so bad no matter what, but at least it also didn't result in any injury, let alone a serious one.I have no idea how long a suspension he'll get. On the one hand, if Rudolph had an eggshell skull, Garrett would be a murder defendant right now.
Video evidence rules the day. And this ain't a grainy elevator or hallway security cam. What do people think garret will actually get suspended (now what he should). After Kareem got six but then tyreek got nothing I think it’s entirely random. I’m guessing 2
Heartfelt apology, work with kids with head injuries, six figure donation (matched by team and/or league) and another statement about understanding what folks with head injuries go through and he's a much better human being now?I highly doubt Garrett serves any 2020 time. He’ll get multiple games this year and probably the whole season. And then the offseason comes and everyone forgets. Then, you have some puff piece in training camp and we’re all set.
The NHL equivalent is Marty McSorely Not a run of the mill fight.Hope he only gets 2 games. What he did is no different than other sports entertainment (MMA, NHL fights, Boxing). All the comments saying he could have killed him are laughable.
Give me more of these fights. Can't wait to see Browns/Steelers II in a few weeks.
If Garrett gets the rest of the year, and it is possible, you have to give Rudolph one game for the kick to the nuts and for him trying to pull Garrett's helmet off.Not buying the comparison to NHL fights. I agree with those that say Garrett will probably get rest of the season. This is the NFL though so practically anything is on the table. I could see as low as 3 or 4 but wouldn't be shocked with an 8 game going into next season.
Pouncey should get a game or two. He kicked a guy in the head and was looking to hurt someone. He's not defending anyone at that point, he's just looking for revenge and only going to escalate things. Might be somewhat understandable but in no way was he in the right.
On a semi-related note, Randall should get a suspension for the targeting hit. Completely unnecessary.
If one of the MMA guys had a club then your point is valid. If Garrett had just hauled off and punched him in the face the media reaction today is a whole lot different.Hope he only gets 2 games. What he did is no different than other sports entertainment (MMA, NHL fights, Boxing)
Baker Mayfield, of all humans, found a soul and wasn't a colossal douchebag for once.I went to bed early last night, did I miss anything?
I lol at you.Hope he only gets 2 games. What he did is no different than other sports entertainment (MMA, NHL fights, Boxing). All the comments saying he could have killed him are laughable.
