Does that mean the "Dream for Diggs" is still alive?Closing loop on the now locked Antonio Brown threads. Grievances filed against Raiders and Pats. Arbitration expected to be held in the SPRING.
That’s why some of us insisted for so long that none of that $9 million is going to the Patriots 2019 roster.

I sometimes wonder if Brady, Manning and Brees have Broken the NFL. Teams Draft a QB very high. That QB doesnt produce HOF levels and they cut/bench that player.Titans have benched Mariota and are going with Tannehill.

Great article. For me, it's a sobering reminder of how many people are out there facing life circumstances like this - we only know about Greenlee here because her son became famous. What would her life (or her kids') be like without DeAndre making it? And I think about how many of us have support networks we could turn to, safety nets to catch us. How many millions more Sabina Greenlees are out there, crippled by circumstances out of her control, with little joy in her life and even less hope for improvement? Not sure where to put this, but I just stumbled across this fantastic article about Deandre Hopkins and his mother. With all of the shit individuals who play in the NFL, it is nice to read a story about a guy who seems to get it.

Mariota's numbers are superficially decent, but the Titans are 28th in points and 27th in yards - 30th in points and yards per drive. In his five years as starter (counting this year), Tennessee has finished with an above-average offense only once - 14th in 2016.I sometimes wonder if Brady, Manning and Brees have Broken the NFL. Teams Draft a QB very high. That QB doesnt produce HOF levels and they cut/bench that player.
Mariota may be absolute trash. I havent watched enough Titans games to tell. I know his last game was horrendous. But overall all even with that dumpster fire against Denver he is at 59.12 Completion %, 1179 Yards, 7TDs and 2 Picks with a 91.7 rating. Before it he was at 61.7% and 7tds and no Picks.
Other then completion % which is near last in the league what is he doing wrong/different from other years? When your top targets are Adam Humphreys and the Fossil of Dalani Walker maybe the problem isnt your 26 yo league average QB.
So 1 bad game and you are benching a top 15-20 QB? For Ryan Tannahill?
As I say if your not TB or Brees (who we all know NEVER have bad games *Cough Buffalo) then teams will trade you out for guys off the scrap heap.
I look forward to the high Octane Titan offense now firing on all cylinders under Tannahill.
MM is an interesting player. He looks to have all the tools, well respected in the league, loved by his teammates. He plays like he's either confused or afraid to be aggressive. He has never had much help, outside of Delani Walker, from any of his skill players or he can't elevate his teammates? I guess the Titans know their answer to that and they've had years of watching him.And thats a fair criticism of MM. But is none of that Henry or Lewis mid 3 ypc average? Or AJ Brown and Corey Davis Shitty receiving numbers? Or the 13.6 Sack%?
Again if you and others say much of that is because MM is holding the ball too long or not hitting open guys and so the Defenses can key on the Run then ok.
But This isnt just the Titans. So often QBs are traded out for someone just as or more shitty based on a game or 2.
I dont remember that being the so prevalent back before the Brady/Manning/Brees era. But I could be wrong about too.
They let Mariota start 60+ games. How much more leash do you want them to give him? I agree with you if you're talking about Josh Rosen or somebody like that, but Mariota has had chances; he just isn't very good. He's reaching the point where his rookie contract is nearly up so he's going to be not cheap and not good instead of cheap and not good. The Titans are likely moving on anyway.I am certainly not making the case that he is top 5 Qb in the league. Nor would i go so far as to say you could win a SB with him. At least not without the2000 Ravens D2019 Patriots D and a Strong running game.
He does indeed play a game or 2 better then his expected W/L according to PFR. And every year (save his rookie) he has had a winning record. Often with decidedly mediocre coaching and teammates. (as @Willie Clay's Big Play points out.)
So mediocre coaches, mediocre teams, MM has had mediocre (or SLIGHTLY better results).
What I am complaining about (i guess) is how woefully run teams are. Why not try to build a team around him rather then replace him with a worse version. And again I guess I see this as an example of the NFL at large now, rather then a die on the hill argument for MM.. If you dont draft a QB that has MVP seasons right off the bat....."then I guess we need a different QB".
Fan and Management expectations are just so out of whack. Remember teams actually won SBs with Mcmahons, Rypiens, Williams, "Retirement Elway" Flaccos etc.
They have 2 wins already and there are a lot of other teams tanking.@Super Nomario
Again all fair points....if the alternative wasnt Tannahill. Say they had a young QB who was the future, then ok maybe we give new guy some run.
I guess they are trying to tank?
Tannehill is a similar kind of mediocre QB to Mariota when you get right down to it. I don't think anyone's under the illusion that he's a longterm answer, but there are going to be consequences when the offense is as terrible as TEN's has been.@Super Nomario

Yep. There's a phrase I use (in a different context) when describing a choice between uninspiring or just plain not-that-different options: "if it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter." There's little to choose between the two, I'm not sure it's worth getting worked up about unless you're related to one of them.Tannehill is a similar kind of mediocre QB to Mariota when you get right down to it. How much of that did Brock actually receive in the end? That 72 million dollar contract was incredible for Brock. Almost all of that money was an overpay. Kudos to Brock for turning that masterful 2015 performance into such a bountiful windfall. Less impressive was Houston paying him that much.
This is correct according to Spotrac.com on earnings. Huge payday from Houston and Cleveland. Made his bread because of the 2015 season with Peyton going down and his quality stats. But boy he is one lucky sob. Seriously $41 million for a half season of play with a stacked team behind him.I don't think he got a dollar more than his guaranteed money. He was cut in year 2 of his deal and was paid out about $36MM from the Texans and browns. Earned a little more than $41MM in his career.
So 19 rings is in play?Don't know where else to put this, but after leaving his role as DC of the Steelers following 2014, Dick LeBeau was DC / Asst HC in Tennessee, through 2017, a year during which he turned EIGHTY YEARS OLD.
Marv Levy's a quitter.
How hard is it to be a DC where you basically every week "do what we do" and play zone D? No wonder why he made it to 80.Don't know where else to put this, but after leaving his role as DC of the Steelers following 2014, Dick LeBeau was DC / Asst HC in Tennessee, through 2017, a year during which he turned EIGHTY YEARS OLD.
