Albert Breer on the Pats pregame show says Emmanuel Sanders is potentially going to be available in trade talks. If he is available the Pats should be all over him. He looks like himself in preseason games coming off the Achilles injury.
Pats would owe him his base salary of just over $10 million. It probably isn't feasible right now, but towards the trade deadline it may be a possibility. He also has cap number over $11 million doesn’t he? That is just about what we have left right?
How many teams can afford Clowney's contract and have a WR to trade? We could probably figure this out; it can't be a long list.
Dorsett for Clowney. Done. How many teams can afford Clowney's contract and have a WR to trade? We could probably figure this out; it can't be a long list.
The Pats have better DE depth than WR depth IMO. Pass.Dorsett for Clowney. Done.
Cap figures per OTC.How many teams can afford Clowney's contract and have a WR to trade? We could probably figure this out; it can't be a long list.
I think it's only half that, because they can spread the dead money into 2020. They have the WR depth to do it. They even have the OL depth to sweeten the deal with a guy like Vaitai.Who are the fits? Team needs to have like 18-20M in cap space or have the ability to match salary given the size of the tender and the need to have SOME cap wiggle room to survive 16 weeks. Clowney can’t be extended, he’s playing under the tender or not at all, so the cap hit is what it is.
The Eagles could trade Jeffery for Clowney. Assuming they’d do that as a football matter, I think they’d have to absorb about 7M in dead money for ‘19. They do sit at about 20M in cap space, so it’s doable.
Erving's kind of awful though, no?Chiefs--$22 million to spend and have good WR depth plus Eric Fisher to trade as they have Cam Erving behind him to step in.
If this report is serious, a Clowney for Kenny Golladay swap would be interesting to me.Who are the fits? If I was HOU I’d ship him for Trent Williams. The idea a receiver is what they really need is puzzling to me.
I don’t think the Pats make sense. They don’t have players they’d be willing to trade that HOU would want, and the Pats can’t take between 15-16M in cap space (or perhaps 13-14 net) without being snug against the cap.
I didn't include any non-contenders because they really have no motivation to get him but sure they could.I think it's only half that, because they can spread the dead money into 2020. They have the WR depth to do it. They even have the OL depth to sweeten the deal with a guy like Vaitai.

What about the Dolphins? $22 MM in space, they have both Tunsil and Stills to offer, Clowney would fit great as a super-charged version of Trey Flowers in Flores' scheme, they could use a cornerstone defender. Marginal 2019 value obviously as they aren't competing.
I mean, isn’t this literally the reason why you keep Dorsett? The Pats have better DE depth than WR depth IMO. Pass.
I was joking in Larry Fitzgerald sort of way. No way in hell would the Texans do that. I would do that in a cocaine-heartbeat though. The Pats have better DE depth than WR depth IMO. Pass.
This just feels like an Eagles move to me. They would be my guess.Seahawks have about $20M under the cap right now, so they'd have to make a deal something like Clowney for George Fant (OT help), CJ Prosise (RB help) and KC's 2nd that they picked up in the Clark deal. It would clear about $4M from the Seahawks cap.
That all being said, I just don't think they are willing to make that kind of investment in Clowney when they wouldn't for Clark. Clowney is going to want at least Clark money (even if he isn't as good as Clark). And I don't think Seattle is up for a rental this time, as opposed to the Sheldon Richardson deal a couple of years ago.
Eagles have $18.7M in cap room and if they wanted to trade someone like Vaitai in the deal, he's only going to save them $2M, so it would get a little tight for them too. I agree it makes sense for them to grab him, even if they don't sign him long term. This just feels like an Eagles move to me. They would be my guess.

There is an Effeminate Agenda going on amongst the NBA & NFL elite, peddled by high ranking Masons/handlers to indoctrinate the heterosexual sports world without them knowing, for the buying power of the LGBTQ community. ...But we not ready to have that conversation yet.
NBA: - The Vogue Fashion show you now get, from the team bus/car to the locker room. Most of the outfits you think for 16 year old boys not 6’6 30+ men. - The softening of play, everyone’s a 3pt. Shooter. - Noticeable weight loss to fit the feminine archetype.

NFL: -Michael Sams was the gauge to see where society was at. (Planned) - Commercial, two aggressive men having a powder blue/ pink cupcake buisness. - Feminine behavior over lil things like (Helmets) - Same fashion show to locker room using only Receivers/QB/DBs (archetype)
I didn't realize that CTE and mental illness go hand in hand with misogyny/bigotry. Unfortunately, that's just a feature of our country in 2019.Not sure if this is news but former Chiefs RB Larry Johnson has CTE or has otherwise just gone crazy
Nate Jackson, former NFLer, expands on this idea in a longer and more emotional article over on Deadspin, all about that 4th preseason game.Good reminder from Ross Tucker:
Annual Reminder: Guys playing in 4th preseason game tonight are likely the best football players EVER from their hometown. For most, tonight is last time they will ever put a helmet and shoulder pads on & by Saturday they'll realize their lifelong dream/goal did not come true.
For us, we want our team to cut the players who aren't that good, but it would serve as a sobering reminder that each of these guys, simply to make it to this point with an NFL team, are GREAT football players. They may not be great compared to NFL players, but they're at a place that the vast vast majority of D-1 football players (who themselves are great) only DREAM of getting. Most D-1 players never even sniff an NFL camp at all.
A lot of guys' dreams are going to be crushed in the next couple of days. I had never really thought about the "this will be the last time a lot of them put on a helmet and pads" angle before. I coach HS sports and cutting kids there is painful. Imagine cutting these guys. Not the most fun part of the job, I wouldn't think.
Then you try to get some sleep, and you’re going to need it. The starters won’t be suiting up and they won’t be in meetings with you. When you have bed-checks at 11:15, the starters will be at a gentlemen’s club sampling the local fauna, having been given the night off by a coach who knows they need it; who knows that this will be their last relaxing week of the year.
But this will not be the case for you. You haven’t earned that yet. So this game is, without any exaggeration, your Super Bowl—the biggest game of your life, and no one is watching. Well, you said you were frustrated with your lack of reps, right? Then get ready. You’re about to have all the reps you can handle.
I'm inclined to think he is done. Fading hard, wrong side of 30, and personal issues. Would be surprised to see him latch on anywhere
It is a bit of a surprise but he is 31 years old with a $9M cap hit. According to Sportrac $2.875M is dead money.
Maybe he just doesn't fit what they're doing anymore. Maybe they have guy whose names you don't know that outplayed him.McCoy being cut reeks of tank mode to me. He was only going to make $6 million the rest of the year.
The even older Frank Gore.Maybe he just doesn't fit what they're doing anymore. Maybe they have guy whose names you don't know that outplayed him.
Clowney for 2020 3rd rounder, LB Mingo & Jacob Martin.Looks like Clowney to Seattle. Looks like other player or players involved too.

They could’ve just tagged Clark. Now they have an extra 1st/2nd and Clowney.Clowney for 2020 3rd rounder, LB Mingo & Jacob Martin.
My god, what a fleece job in favor of Seattle. If Clowney walks, a high comp pick too.
Caserio's butterfly effect continues.
