Roosevelt Colvin and Rodney Harrison.Adalius Thomas was a big signing as well, but yes---Pats pretty clearly tend to sit out the first day or two. In fact, hard to think of a signing other than those two that was a truly big day 1-2 signing.

Colvin is a good call, that's another true top-flight FA signing. Harrison was more of a discount/damaged goods signing---a Pats specialty.Roosevelt Colvin and Rodney Harrison.
RB is much more punishing than QB, but he is about 6 years younger than Tom.I can't believe that Frank Gore of all people is still in the league.
That's what sucks about having so many former coordinators/players as HCs around the league.
I lost times of the amount of times I have watched him play here in Tampa and said "Brady would love throwing to this guy". Shame they didn't find a way to get it done.Humphries is a good player. He catches most balls thrown his way and he's good for QBs that want to get the ball out quick. About the same as Edelman in terms of yards per target, but with inferior QBs throwing to him. No idea how he is on blocking, but if Bill was interested he's probably pretty good. Also, you need more than one guy on the team who can catch a kick for you if you need it. Would have been a nice addition. But, the price got too high.
So I guess you could say that nickel corners are a dime a dozen, amirite? The Lions are insane. Did Bob Quinn learn a thing from BB and Nick Caserio? You can get nickel corners in the draft.
A guy like Humphries has to strike while the iron is hot but, yeah, he’ll probably have like 500-600 yards receiving next year or something in that offense.Motherfuck!
I’d have given him that contract, but it’s near where I’d have stopped, so whatever. Have fun with Mariotta.
Yeah, that McCourty deal is looking more and more reasonable...Honey Badger to KC 3/$42
You really just have to be at the point of calmness with all of this. Whatever happens, the Patriots will come out looking smart in a year and they'll be in contention.Second year in a row I find myself disappointed in losing Honeybadger - but clearly BB doesn't care, so who am I? Hate having missed out on Humphries, but dems the breaks.
Curious to see the terms. He’s a good player but the price tag is sure to be high.Anthony Barr to the Jets.
10M guaranteedFunchess for $13 mil is a good sign of the weakness of the FA WR class and the money flying around. Decent enough #2 and one year is safe (I’m sure the guarantees are much less than $13 mil) but he’s nothing special—glad the Colts didn’t give it to Tate instead.
And Mosley for same price (lol):$14-$15M/Year
Sources: Former #Ravens LB CJ Mosley is expected to sign with the #Jets on a massive 5-year, $85M deal worth $51M guaranteed. That’s $17M per year. It took a lot to leave Baltimore. [emoji383][emoji383][emoji383]
Don't the The Gang Green Forum that. It's all unicorns and rainbows over there, all they need is Bell to make this the best offseason ever.My God those are bad deals for the Jets
I hope they get their man.Don't the The Gang Green Forum that. It's all unicorns and rainbows over there, all they need is Bell to make this the best offseason ever.
I would have liked NE to take a shot on him, at about 1/2 that guaranteed number max.10M guaranteed
You tell ‘emThe Jets fans might want to be reminded that teams who go all-in on the first day of free agency rarely end up excited by the end of the season.
Seems like an interesting study could be tracking FA spend, perhaps as % of cap, against subsequent year’s improvement. Is there a correlation there? The Jets fans might want to be reminded that teams who go all-in on the first day of free agency rarely end up excited by the end of the season.
High correlation between winning the back page and not winning squat come playoffs time.Seems like an interesting study could be tracking FA spend, perhaps as % of cap, against subsequent year’s improvement. Is there a correlation there?
Anecdotally, it seems that bad teams spend the big bucks, but do those big spenders yield improvements?
Many of us recognize that smell of money burning a hole in your pocket — just not with our football team. It’s what gets you Carl Crawford.Reading Bill Barnwell's grades for the FA deals so far is pretty hilarious - so many Cs and Ds!
