This swing had me the most encouraged. He attacked it and didn’t even flinch after. The game needs some work but he absolutely looks healthy.Haven’t seen any evidence he’s hurt though. He’ll shake off rust as he gets more and more reps.
Yeah, all I’m focusing on is his health. He’s just gotten back and has changed his swing, his ball and his equipment. His putting looks great, he’s hitting it long and he’s not chunking chips anymore. Everything else will come back with time. Driver has always been his worst club and that’s a tough course for that. This swing had me the most encouraged. He attacked it and didn’t even flinch after. He has to be the most hateable player of his generation. Jason Day tries hard to edge into that conversation but he’s a bajillion miles away in terms of hateability.Bubba could be the most popular golfer in golf if he wasn't such a douche. He has all the ingredients - long hitter, homemade swing and can be a bit quirky.
Instead I hate him.
Uh, Patrick Reed?He has to be the most hateable player of his generation. Jason Day tries hard to edge into that conversation but he’s a bajillion miles away in terms of hateability.
Yeah, I get why people get frustrated with Day’s game, but he seems to be a fairly nice guy. (Said no one ever about Patrick Reed.)Uh, Patrick Reed?
I understand a lot of people get tired of Day’s theatrics, but he’s not a complete douche bag, at least imho.
Everyone's struggling right now. It's 100% wide open still.Roughly a million guys could win this.
He was even for the round until he holed out from the bunker a shot that probably would have been 10 feet past the pin. He's made plenty of mistakes but has gotten a bit lucky and has made a few clutch putts.Bubba has made the fewest mistakes this round so far.
Other people were dropping shots left and right and he just made pars. He didn't make zero mistakes, just the fewest especially on the back 9.He was even for the round until he holed out from the bunker a shot that probably would have been 10 feet past the pin. On the back 9, I agree. On the front, he had 3 bogies and wasn't playing particularly well. Righted the ship at the right time.Other people were dropping shots left and right and he just made pars. He didn't make zero mistakes, just the fewest especially on the back 9.
To be fair, I napped a bit on the front and then basketball took away like 30 mins of him on the front too.On the back 9, I agree. On the front, he had 3 bogies and wasn't playing particularly well. Righted the ship at the right time.
I was reading a little in a golf magazine recently about guys changing their equipment for money. They made the point on the broadcast but Bubba going back to his normal ball seems to have made an enormous difference.
The guaranteed income is very enticing. I don't blame them one bit.I was reading a little in a golf magazine recently about guys changing their equipment for money.
It's staggering to me that someone who moves the ball as much as Bubba would fuck with his money maker.
I don’t blame them either, but ball seems more intimate than club, or at least irons. Most companies will fine tune the clubs to your specs way more than for a general consumer and even build stuff you and I can’t buy. Balls are balls, there’s only so much they can do. It seems kind of foolish to take a little more to play a new ball than the one you know and win with. That being said, like anything, I guess you grab it where and when you can, but there’s a balance, I think, when you get to that level of control. The guaranteed income is very enticing. I don't blame them one bit.
I'm not passing judgement on it. I'm just shocked by it. There are a lot of endorsement opportunities for these top guys, and I'm surprised that Bubba, of all people, would opt for one with a different ball. The guaranteed income is very enticing. I don't blame them one bit.
