Apparently Panthers TE Greg Olsen will be working as part of the TV broadcast for this weekend's Rams-Vikings game. Olsen is currently on IR, but the Panthers have a bye this week. It appears as if Olsen will be back for their next game.
This seems really weird. I guess Fox asked him to do this like five months ago. Seems like an odd thing for a current player to do.
The Vikings GM isn't happy with this, since they are in competition with the Panthers for a top seed in the NFC, and they play each other December 10 - he is worried Olsen will gain an advantage by being in production meetings. Not sure how much he would gain, but I can certainly see the point. (As an aside, they could also face the Rams in the playoffs, so there is an impact to both teams playing).
I hate doing this, because this is admittedly an overplayed card, but imagine if a Patriot player went to announce a Pittsburgh or KC game during a bye week? There'd be national outrage.
