2016 PGA Tour

Really happy for Vaughn Taylor, though. What a comeback - anyone remember him playing in the 2006 Ryder Cup? (Part of that immortal quartet of debutants with J.J. Henry, Brett Wetterich...and also Zach Johnson, so at least one of them came good.) To go from that high to the utter low he'd been in recently, and then to win at Pebble Beach...just amazing.

Made cut, didn't finish. It generally is used if there is a secondary cut because too many players made the cut Friday. I think if 78 or more make the cut, they have a second cut after Saturday's round and cut down to 70.
Pebble appears to be a rare event where there is one cut, but because they only keep 60, they treat the rest of the top 70 as a MDF.
Thank you

Rory and Scott eagle 1 so current leaderboard has Rory, Scott, Bubba tied for the lead. DJ a shot back. Good times. DJ in close for eagle on 1 too so he may be the leader here in a second.

Oh sure I'm just clarifying what he said haha. I agree it's up there and it's actually a great question overall because you're right, not many par 4s are iconic like that. Off the top of my head, either 11 or 17 at Augusta, 18 at TPC Sawgrass, the road hole at St Andrews all jump to mind. What else are there?

I think Kokrak is gonna need birdie on 18 to have a shot. I'm betting Bubba pars.

18th hole at harbor town (lighthouse hole)
18th at Doral
16th hole at Merion (quarry hole)
3rd at the country club (over the rock drive)

All great par 4s that I can think of

17th at National (ridiculous view)
16th at Shinnecock (or is it 17th?)

3 at TCC is my favorite hole I've ever played. Champ 13 is a great par 4 as well

Yeah I'm an idiot. Bubba bogey guarantees a playoff no matter what.

That should do it.

When Bubba finds a course he likes he's hard to beat. Twice at Hartford, twice at Augusta and now twice at Riviera.

pretty sure I've made bogey from every green side bunker on that hole. the members play it as a par 5, I think. The green is so small...lol
I think you are thinking of 12 where the members play as a par 5? Up hill dogleg left? That tee was pushed back 60 yards or so a few years back so now everyone plays it as a 5. I played the course solo the day after they had the Ryder cup back in 99 from the pro tees-the Ryder cup tee markers were still in...it's literally a different sport. I was probably an 8 or so handicap back then, and I'd hit 3 or 4 balls off every tee and play in from the best drive. I don't think I made any pars.

Scott appears to be pulling away here, 2 shot lead on Sergio. Scott has had problems in the bear trap before though. Not just yesterday's fiasco.

Sergio birdies 14 to pull within one. Should be a fun finish.

Sergio has to go for it on 18 to make this interesting. Gonna have to be a great shot to put any pressure on Scott at all.

Wow only 2 players in the last 30 years have made a quad and won a PGA event. Scott will be the 3rd.

I believe they are looking to possibly move it for next year and the future. Maybe some contractual thing pforced them into staying at Doral this year.

I'm with CL though. Great course.

Why would the Tour move the event? Doral is an awesome course with a killer finishing hole.
It was in response to Trump's comments wishing to ban all Muslims from entering the US. They said they would hold the 2016 event there, but potentially look to move it elsewhere to distance themselves from him.

We've got a tournament here as the leaders head to the back 9. Rory is 1-shot ahead of Lefty, Bubba and Willett. Lefty just drove it in the water on 10 though.

Haven't shown him on TV in a while, but DJ has really hit an oil slick here on the back. Double, double, bogey, double. Woof.
