Looks like a lot of ex-Pats are getting the axe today.

WR Kenbrill Thompson being one. Seriously, I thought he'd be released after he dropped that pass that could have put the Jets in the playoffs.

DL Chris Jones also released.

Former draft binky (of mine and a few others) Daniel Braverman gets cut. So did Vikes WR Moritz Bohringer, the German Wonderkin.

Not a cutdown, but this bring JOY to my heart:

You know you want Rex to get him in Buffalo
AFCE is a gift that keeps on giving.

Two (almost) official TGG bust stamps via Milliner AND Amaro on the same day.

Edit: TGG had a great thread title re: the TE: "Today, Amaro, or Never". Well, now we know.

But SSF, that just means Bowles might know what he's doing
Oh yeah?

@AdamSchefter Baring unforeseen, now looks as if the Jets will be keeping all four of their QBs.

FOUR QBs. NYJ are keeping Fitz + 3 stooges.

Edit: Fitz is Fitz, just rusty. Petty looked like he regressed (and now injured). Last PS game, Hackenberg averaged 2 yards per throw in one of the worst stat-line I've ever seen from any NFL game, PS or not: 11 for 31, 0 TD and 1 INT (Pick-6 I may add), for a grand total of 54 yards.

And for the punchline, they're keeping Geno. Smith.

BB is so good that when Steelers got former 1st RD Brown (wait, we've heard that before) Justin Gilbert, it's being called a "Belichick-like move":

@WilliamsonNFL Belichick like move by #Steelers bringing in former 1st round pick on the super cheap

The Browns got a 2018 6th rounder for Gilbert, I guess it is better than nothing but not by all that much.

Harbough needs to go to HELL to release Forsett after what he just did:

Ravens running back Justin Forsett is the kind of man who lives his faith.

While traveling to play the Saints in New Orleans, Forsett visited areas of Baton Rouge ravaged by historic floods that claimed 13 lives.

He volunteered with the help of United Way, the Salvation Army and Under Armour.

The Pro Bowler shared images of the devastation and cleanup on social media. He gave his followers a live look at neighborhood streets impacted by the flood, including mountains of furniture and household items reduced to garbage by the waters.

Forsett:
  • 2014: 235 ATT / 1,266 YDS / 5.4 AVG / 44 REC
  • 2015: 151 ATT / 641 YDS / 4.2 AVG / 31 REC
Still, at age 30 he still has one good year left I think. 2015 Ravens was a sh*tshow.

They subscribe to one year too early...

Guys they part with typically do not light it up elsewhere.

Younger and cheaper guys impressed pre-season.

@mattbarrows Surprise: #49ers have waived Marcus Rush, who led the NFL in sacks this preseason with six.

@PFF_Sam 2nd highest PFF pass-rush grade among edge rushers too.

Geez, I was still talking about Sitton, not Grissom.
Me too. One of us is just mistaken. I thought generally guys who are cut go to waivers first based on their existing contract. If they clear waivers they need to sign a new contract.

Technically, we may be both correct. It depends on whether he's a veteran and how his contract is structured. Per Wiki:

As of 2008, at the conclusion of a season in which a veteran with four years of service is claimed via waivers, veterans with a no-trade clause in their contracts may declare themselves free agents. Any other veteran with four years of service can declare himself a free agent at the conclusion of the season subsequent to the season in which they were claimed on waivers if they remain under a claimed contract.[2]

Tweets from various reporters seem to think all teams are "after" him, which makes me think he's a free agent.

The Giants cut Geremy Davis. Big WR with great hands. Not super fast, but ran a 4.47 on his pro day. Strong, strong receiver. Pretty good special teams guy. Not the downfield "take the top of the defense" guy, but if you throw it near him, he'll catch it. I'm surprised the Giants didn't keep him. He was getting first team reps during camp until he strained a hamstring, and during that time, two other guys just went right by him. Very hard worker - his approach would fit in perfectly with how the Patriots do things. I'd like them to take a look at him.

Embattled quarterback Mark Sanchez will sign with the Dallas Cowboys after being released by the Denver Broncos, a source tells ESPN.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/09/03/cowboys-could-be-facing-scrutiny-for-timing-of-mark-sanchez-signing/
"Per a league source with knowledge of the timing of the release of the NFL’s official transaction report for Saturday, September 3, the Cowboys face scrutiny from the league office for signing former Broncos quarterback Mark Sanchez before his release from the Broncos was officially communicated by the league to all teams.\
While a technicality, it’s nevertheless a clear violation of the tampering rules, with the Cowboys contacting, negotiating with, and signing Sanchez while he was still officially the property of the Broncos. The bigger question is whether the NFL will do anything about it.

Patriots fans are watching and waiting."

Shared agent.

This one should be a lay up; they didn't try hard to hide it. Got sloppy.

Not holding my breath.
