"They're building something up in Buffalo" is said in the first ten picks of every NFL draft.

You know, they still haven't been in the playoffs since the Music City Miracle.

Wow.  Gave up a 5 spots, 1st next year and a 4th  next year.  Better hope Watkins is no bust.

Wow, that's crazy.  How do they pass up the hometown kid, Mack, who in addition to being awesome, would be the best play for them if they are looking to stop Tom Brady going forward.

I like Watkins, but it won't surprise me for one second if he looks a lot like another 1st rounder taken last year, DeAndre Hopkins.  Hopkins had the benefit of Andre Johnson on the other side last year and he didn't do shit.  I just don't think there is a receiver worth taking with a top 5 pick, almost ever.
The rookie WR that really excels is a rare beast but maybe they feel they need to give more weapons to Manuel plus their front seven is already beastly.

Bradford was pretty good last year, 14-4 TD to INT ratio, QB rating of 90.9. He plays in a tough division as well.
He improves by just enough every year to make St. Louis give him another chance. He's not a championship-caliber QB. He puts up a passable completion % because he never throws deep - his 6.44 Y/A was still awful even though the numbers you cite were the best in his career.

And as for tough division, his injury happened at a time where he avoided both Seattle games. He was awful in his one game against San Fran, and put up a 6/0 TD/INT ratio against the two worst teams in the league (and had another 3 TD game against the hapless Falcons).

You have to try really hard to get fleeced by the Cleveland Browns organization, and Buffalo just managed to pull it off, with ease.   I don't care how good Watkins ends up being, I hate that pick.

Atlanta could trade down.  Everyone seems to have them taking an offensive lineman, and I think either Lewan or Matthews will survive all the way to number 10 or so.

It's actually probably the next 'moneyball' - look for teams about to be sold or with GMs with unsure tenure, since they don't give a crap how bad they make the future situation - they'll take 50 cents today for a dollar in a year or two since either they'll be out of a job and won't care, or the team will have gotten better enough this year that they'll get a couple year deal

I'm honestly shocked they gave up that much to get him.  This draft is deep at WR, including guys like Evans/Cooks/Beckham Jr/Lee that are projected to go around the 7-20 range. Watkins is going to have to becomes a legit #1 target to justify that price. He could certainly get there, but if he isn't a Julio Jones-type difference maker, this could really hurt Buffalo long-term.

I wonder if the Bortles pick impacts getting Stanton and Fitzgerald for Mallet

But for a few years all he had was Amendola, at least now there are no excuses plus isn't he expensive to trade or cut?

I was just looking at the results from last year's first round and the talent in this draft is so, so much deeper that it's kind of incredible.  Last year's 6th pick was Barkevious Mingo.  I'll bet half of the people watching tonight don't even remember the name of the Number 1 pick, Eric Fisher.  2-5 weren't exactly household names either, Luke Joeckel, Dion Jordan, Lane Johnson, Ezekiel Ansah.

Honestly, of those 6 guys, I'd be shocked if most NFL fans could identify the teams that half of them play for.

Watkins is like shit, I have to play up in the North Pole?

Watkins grew up a Bills fan - so I am guessing he's happy to be drafted by them.

I did, but I'm still confused as to whether anyone could be serious about that.

It's not important to me either, but as weird as it might be, with apologies to Abraham Lincoln, it's arguably just as confusing to see someon question how other people go about enjoying what they enjoy.
