In my opinion, the "style" of offense isn't the issue.
Where Borges is falling down dramatically is in the ability to a) develop talent, and b) adjust gameplans to match player strengths.
Outside of Jeremy Gallon, it's hard to notice a single offensive player that has gotten better over the last three years. The lack of improvement this season is embarrassing and unacceptable. Gardner is a wonderful talent, and I give him credit for cutting down on turnovers in the second half of the season, but that has come along with diminished confidence, physical pummeling, and now (seemingly) some hesitancy in decision-making.
The line has been a season-long disaster -- mental mistakes, technique sloppiness, and complete lack of strength and/or ability to use leverage. Lewan and Schofield have held their own, but it's difficult to say where they've improved.
The receivers? Funchess can't/won't block, and now has the dropsies. Chesson is a decoy. Butt seems to be open just about every play, but Gardner is only focused on Gallon or Funchess (i.e. the primary read) and never progresses to him.
RB is a chicken/egg story. Don't want to impact Green/Smith's confidence by getting them mashed, but I think they stuck with Toussaint too long when it became apparent that he shifted to an East/West runner instead of a North/South runner due to OL ineptitude.
I'd like to see the "big boy" football as much as the next guy, but it has been Borges' complete inability to play to the strengths of his players that has sunk Team 134.
