    A new face for NESN

With Striewski gone it will probably be mostly Guerin Austin. But I wonder if they ultimately want Kacie McDonnell to take over at some point

Dombrowski: SP likely from FA. Which should we sign?

It's pretty understandable why an opposing pitcher on a division rival would hate the other teams best hitter. Papi's tendency to watch hr's just adds more fuel. Price is a competitive person, a good trait for a leader of a rotation. Ortiz would probably look like an asshole if the uniforms were...

    2016 Payroll

Steve Pearce is a free agent and would make a ton of sense if Hanley is moved. 123 wRC+ vs LHP for his career, plays first and corner outfield. Even had a little bit of time at second base this year.

Bow Ties & Bachelorettes: The NESN Game Broadcast Thread

I agree the promoting of it is way over the top for what it is and don and jerry are essentially mocking it at this point. However, I don't see how it's a dumb idea on nesn's part. They aren't the first sports broadcast to try it as nascar does it quite often. Although in that case the race is...

Who's Your choice for Sox Top of the Rotation Ace?

Based on Rosenthal's article this morning they are still dangling Zimmermann in trade talks:   http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/don-t-nationals-want-to-pay-to-play-121414   Some interesting info from Rosenthal is that the Nats proposed a Zimmermann and Desmond trade to...

Sox acquire Rick Porcello for Yoenis Cespedes, Alex Wilson, and Gabe Speier

That doesn't seem like enough years or AAV for him to consider an extension. Homer Bailey's extension seems like a good comp, 6 years $105M is something I think the Sox should be willing to do. But your point remains, they should make every effort to extend him now.

Lester to Cubs: Rent Garments Thread

Factoring in the vesting option that pushes the deal to $170 mil and the tax difference between the two states, Cubs offer was higher.

    Trading for Starting Pitching

Puig and Pederson are in a totally different category than Cespedes. Puig for any of these rumored pitchers (Cueto, Shark, Zimmermann, etc) on the trade market is not a good enough return for the Dodgers and Pederson probably isn't enough for the team trading the starter. I can see a heavily...

    The Bottom of the Rotation

I'd like to see someone like Ogando or Morrow brought in. Someone that can compete for a spot in the rotation in spring training, has some upside, and is flexible enough to be moved to the bullpen.

    The premature re-signing Lester thread

So Merloni called this kid out on twitter and Jake asked Lou to follow and DM him to prove his source. Here's Lou's latest tweet:   https://twitter.com/LouMerloni/status/537098980375932928

    The future at 3rd

Well if Pablo is signed as well, that moves Hanley to the outfield. The Sox would have 7 outfielders under contract...without even including JBJ. I'd imagine Ben has a deal lined up including at least one of them for pitching if all of this comes to fruition.

    The future at 3rd

Based on some Google searches, it appears that Hanley and Stanton are represented by the same agency (Wasserman). So it's not out of question that this guy would have an inside source on both players.

    The future at 3rd

I think this is what is likely to happen. Some type of vesting option that lowers the AAV and gives Sandoval a contract above $100m.

    The future at 3rd

Is this just simply different interpretations by these sources of what an "offer" is? The Sox could have verbally offered the 5yrs/$95m but didn't want to put a formal offer on the table until Pablo spoke with San Fran and San Diego. I'm failing to find any reason why a team or an agent would...

    MLB Hot Stove Rumours Thread

    1) How is Cueto only worth 10m in value and 2) Do you honestly expect Bruce to have negative value the next two years? Bruce is signed to a reasonable contract, had a .269 BABIP in 2014, and puts up big power numbers when healthy. Some team will trade prospects for him and I don't think it...

    Red Sox Hot Stove Rumors

Gammo on D&C: -On Sandoval, Giants may not want to commit the years it will take to sign Panda since he may be a DH at the end of the contract. Said Pablo had dinner with Ortiz last night. -On Heyward, Sox didn't want to give 2-3 pitchers up for one year of control. Heyward could be looking at...
