"Jewish people" works too.I feel like only people with guilty consciences can’t just say Jews.
Dude is just broken, has been for years. He's one of the most talented players I'll ever watch and he can't get out of his own way
"Jewish people" works too.I feel like only people with guilty consciences can’t just say Jews.
How the fuck do you misspell “antisemitism” while making a statement like that?I’ll say this— a pr firm did not write that.
His inability to spell the word cuts against his claim to be a Semite. How the fuck do you misspell “antisemitism” while making a statement like that?
But the real action here: Did y’all get a load of the last two words of the statement?
Hooboy, Kyrie just can’t help himself, can he?

I’d slap extra games on the minimum for pulling that shit. But I don’t expect many people will follow it, which, of course, is something he’s counting on. What an asshole.View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLIS7qAWeaA
We'll see what happens next, but I'm honestly surprised he even put in the effort for this statement, especially this quickly.
The Lakers make too much sense, that is what I think will happen at some point.I was listening to the Lowe Post yesterday with Nick Friedell, and both Nick and Zach said that Kyrie has zero trade value at the moment around the league, "radioactive" was the term they used.
Now, it is the NBA and somebody who is very talented will always get a bunch of chances. It wouldn't surprise me at all with just a little bit of time for things to simmer down, that someone makes a play for Kyrie. Or the Nets bring him back because their season looks to be going up in flames.
What has Klutch sports done that makes you think that they have sports consultants capable of “gentle coaching”? Anthony Davis graceful exit from New Orleans perhaps?I understand that people are thinking this is the end for Irving in the NBA and it might be. However there are scenarios where, with gentle coaching by say, Klutch Sports consultants, Kyrie winds up playing elsewhere after a period of reflection and an apology.
Also, I have no proof of it but it would not shock me at all if a good number of NBA players share the same zip code in terms of having similar views as Kyrie. Point being that he may be a lot more welcome in other locker rooms than we'd like to believe.
Again, that's just a sense I have and I am about as close to an NBA locker room as most others here.
Turns out, he just looked at the illustrationsOr dictionary owner.
Kyrie reminds me of kids that end up in gifted ed and after better evaluatiuon you see they are just really strong verbally, but mostly just confident, but not all that bright. As kids they spout all kinds of theories and always take the teacher's prompts and give a long empty speech, but it's impressive when the smart, shy math kids don't say anything. After a year or two in a high school program (where I would see them) you have to use Edspeak to explain the kid doesn't really know anything, but will read the first page of a book and go off on a tangent. If they were good looking girl or a musician or athlete they could last longer becaue people liked them.I thought his "I know the Oxford dictionary " was funny...seconds after saying "And I'm still sitting in this seat standing."
Yahweh Irving, with the killer tetragrammaton. How the fuck do you misspell “antisemitism” while making a statement like that?

Hooboy, Kyrie just can’t help himself, can he?
How long until Kyrie declares himself a “Prosemite”?His inability to spell the word cuts against his claim to be a Semite.
Or dictionary owner.
He’s more of an amateursemite. He doesn’t do guilt nearly well enough to be professional. How long until Kyrie declares himself a “Prosemite”?
This deserved a lot more love.Because sometimes it's not enough just to destroy a team.
no one should be surprised that his best defense just isn’t very goodThis is not a complicated issue. Kyrie is an idiot. An idiot full of himself to boot. His best defense - that he, of course cannot make - is that he is an idiot.
True. And his best defense is a good offense.no one should be surprised that his best defense just isn’t very good
He's conflicted about the Jews being part of a globalist cabal, because, well...Can’t wait to read/hear which parts of the doc he agrees with.
That's a really good point. And for someone not him, it presented an out of sorts. "I was repeating the views of people who had seen it. Now that I've seen it, I realize what a horrible heap of bigoted garbage it is and that I really hurt a lot of people when I spoke about something I knew nothing about. I am sorry. I hope to earn your forgiveness."To me, the part of this that has gotten a little undersold is that Kyrie has clearly never really watched this film. Friedell said in the podcast I mentioned upthread that Kyrie just never ever wants to back down when he’s challenged on anything (cue the defending Giannis gifs) so he digs in.
In this case, because he was challenged on the contents of this video, rather than saying “Yeah, I just thought it had a cool name” or admit he didn’t actually do his “research,” he dug in and refused to say the one thing that might’ve gotten him off the hook on this but also would’ve exposed him for being an empty vessel rather than a “beacon of light and truth.” And yes, despite finally saying “I apologize” he’s still doing it now.
Hard to see how this is worth it over the long haul – but it seems like the one thing he doesn’t want to give up in this whole ordeal is the pretense that he’s some kind of prophet.
Also spot on. He's an idiot. The only difference between him and Schilling is that Schilling didn't light himself on fire until *after* he wheedled millions from Rhode Island. This is not a complicated issue. Kyrie is an idiot. An idiot full of himself to boot. His best defense - that he, of course cannot make - is that he is an idiot.
There will come a day, more likely sooner than later, in which his basketball skill will diminish to such a degree that no basketball team will vie for his services. Then Kyrie will really discover that nobody gives a shit about what he has to say.
This is definitely possible. To add to that, apparently the movie is very anti-Muslim as well, and I believe that Kyrie is still Muslim? To me, the part of this that has gotten a little undersold is that Kyrie has clearly never really watched this film. In the days before social media this may have been true. Today, however, the long tail of idiocy finds plenty of willing participants to pet it until it wags furiously. See- literally every idiot that still somehow has a voice long after their glory days have faded. Should Cole Beasley's stance on Kryie occupy any space in my brain? Fuck no. Yet, here we are. This is not a complicated issue. Kyrie is an idiot. An idiot full of himself to boot. His best defense - that he, of course cannot make - is that he is an idiot.

My man! And while we’re we’re at it, have you looked at his Twitter page?Yahweh Irving, with the killer tetragrammaton.
Basically trying to have his cake and eat it too, and oh, also throw it in your face. Classic narcissism. My man! And while we’re we’re at it, have you looked at his Twitter page?
And, just for good measure, here’s a recent Tweet from him:
For those for whom this is a bit obscure—which is intentional, as Kyrie is engaging in a little self-indulgent attempt at what is known as “esoteric” writing, “YHWH” denotes the Hebrew for “God,” which is often understood to be an ancient subjunctive the verb “to be” and, as such, interpreted as a form of “I am.” So he opens his “apology” with a reference to him studying YHWH and closes it with “I AM” in all capitals, where it’s used as a double entendre, as it ostensibly references his sense of self—but, in effect, a triple entendre in that this whole issue with the movie is about who are the “true” chosen people of YHWH. So he begins by saying he’s trying to understand YHWH and ends with I AM, and then signs off with the infinity loop.View attachment 57205
Somewhat hilariously, the responses are full of people explaining to him that he doesn’t understand Islam.
Fucking dickhead.
It’s pretty clear that that’s not reading too much into it because it’s actually a repetition of the structure from his Twitter bio (see above), and he’s also Tweeted about this as a kind of theological position (see also above).
So this isn’t really even just a forced apology, it’s no apology at all: With his cute little exercise in esoteric writing, he is issuing on another level a reaffirmation of his beliefs with apologetic language inserted into the middle; indeed, he is claiming that by virtue of his enlightenment or whatever the fuck he thinks he is he is actually above all this crap that we the unwashed masses don’t understand.
He’s seriously being a real piece of shit here; like, he’d developing new and more “sophisticated” ways of being a piece of shit. This is not an apology, except insofar as he’a sorry for us that we don’t share in his grasping of the truth. Asshole.
I don’t know that I agree this is classic narcissism. Narcissists crave adoration and validation and will blow with the wind. Irving is many things but seeking love he is not.Basically trying to have his cake and eat it too, and oh, also throw it in your face. Classic narcissism.
Just as his usual word salad tries to impart the appearance of intelligence, he is trying to deliver the appearance of an apology. He is likely to fool someone down the line enough to play more NBA basketball.Basically trying to have his cake and eat it too, and oh, also throw it in your face. Classic narcissism.
What gets me about all of this is he clearly thinks he's outsmarted everyone. Oh, I've apologized -- now do you, the media, have what you wanted? Can I go back to playing basketball now?
This is a fundamental misunderstanding of pathological narcissism. Narcissists as defined clinically are not doormats who seek love. They crave attention and validation, but not "love" as we understand it. They will not tolerate any disagreement. They cast people off not because they're "blowing with the wind" but because they are incredibly thin-skinned and reactive to any perceived humiliation, and they see humiliation everywhere. Most people will not give them the unconditional validation they seek in the face of how cruel and selfish a narcissist truly is, so they turn on them and even abuse them.I don’t know that I agree this is classic narcissism. Narcissists crave adoration and validation and will blow with the wind. Irving is many things but seeking love he is not.

Hasn't it basically forever been clear Kyrie is actually an idiot but is very comfortable speaking publicly? He sprinkles in some fancy words sometimes too, I guess.Kyrie reminds me of kids that end up in gifted ed and after better evaluatiuon you see they are just really strong verbally, but mostly just confident, but not all that bright. Right, he drops "big words" but his diction is all fucked up. He can't string together two clauses without dropping some malapropism. He has no truck with the self-awareness it takes to monitor his own phrasing because he has no empathy for anyone else. He's like Little Carmine from the Sopranos come to life in the form of a basketball player.Hasn't it basically forever been clear Kyrie is actually an idiot but is very comfortable speaking publicly? He sprinkles in some fancy words sometimes too, I guess.
He's basically a mechanical from a Shakespeare play. Anything profound he says is accidental and almost certainly the opposite of what he meant.Hasn't it basically forever been clear Kyrie is actually an idiot but is very comfortable speaking publicly? He sprinkles in some fancy words sometimes too, I guess.
This certainly wasn't lost on me, and it was certainly 100% intentional on Kyrie's part, based on his prior statements. This is actually insane: he closes his public apology by literally claiming to be God.My man! And while we’re we’re at it, have you looked at his Twitter page?

I obviously can't say for sure if he's seen the movie or not, but I definitely agree that he comes off as the type who decides he doesn't have to "read the whole book" because he "understands it already." That said, one way or another, he does clearly have a sense of what the movie is about, or, perhaps more precisely, what he understands it to be about, master of mystical hermeneutics that he fancies himself. That's a really good point. And for someone not him, it presented an out of sorts. "I was repeating the views of people who had seen it. Now that I've seen it, I realize what a horrible heap of bigoted garbage it is and that I really hurt a lot of people when I spoke about something I knew nothing about. I am sorry. Oh, man, I was trying to comjure a joke about that. But I can stop now because I won't do better than that.He am that he am
Wow, I love how you've got that third level that aligns so well with the triple-ness of Kyrie's "apology." Nicely done.Basically trying to have his cake and eat it too, and oh, also throw it in your face. Classic narcissism.
Totally. Meanwhile, there's a bunch of people on some sports message board making jokes about his cunning use of baby Hebrew to express his genius in uncovering the historical Biblical secrets of divinity while managing, somehow, to also discover the long history of people who think they've discovered the same damn thing. Hey dickhead, in all your research, did you ever come across a book called Foucault's Pendulum? It was a best-seller, you asshat. What gets me about all of this is he clearly thinks he's outsmarted everyone. Oh, I've apologized -- now do you, the media, have what you wanted? Can I go back to playing basketball now?
When this shit first started up—er, when this new shit first started up...—I went back and revisisted his apology and explanation for the Earth is flat stuff. It makes soooo much more sense with this new context. And it's really hard to find the complete comments in The Google Machine because, well, most of it didn't seem important. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of pathological narcissism. Narcissists as defined clinically are not doormats who seek love. They crave attention and validation, but not "love" as we understand it. They will not tolerate any disagreement. Narcissists do not bend to others, they manipulate and coerce others into behaving how they want them to. Classic grandiose narcissists are famous for being antagonistic and intolerant of any questioning of their authority. A person can be narcissistic in one part of their life and normal in others, of course, as well. We start talking about pathology when that person begin to destroy their own life or the lives of others.
Yeah, this is a hip crowd, isn't it? Think anyone in a journalistic outfit of any significance will pick the story up?This certainly wasn't lost on me, and it was certainly 100% intentional on Kyrie's part, based on his prior statements. This is actually insane: he closes his public apology by literally claiming to be God.
4 Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?” 5 They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am [he].” Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. 6 When Jesus said to them, “I am [he],” they drew back and fell to the ground.
So, just so we're keeping score correctly here, in attempting to close the loop on his grossly offensive comments about Jews, he decided it was a good idea to offend all the Christians as well

What scares me is how everyday people are susceptible to this stuff. These kinds of conspiracies, when toted by public figures, can be enormously attractive to anyone looking for a totalizing explanation for the problems in their life. What I'm afraid of is not that people are refusing to condemn him, but that they're getting ready to have his back. When this shit first started up—er, when this new shit first started up...—I went back and revisisted his apology and explanation for the Earth is flat stuff. It makes soooo much more sense with this new context. And it's really hard to find the complete comments in The Google Machine because, well, most of it didn't seem important.
He says he's drawn to conspiracy theories, but not always that he believes them, but because they make him think. And that he likes to pose to others that maybe what they believe, they only believe because they've never really thought about it enough to question. Hey, did you know there's never actually been a picture of the whole Earth ever taken? (I have no idea what that's even supposed to mean.)
So basically, yeah, it wasn't just to show he was an interesting thinker or smarter than other people, though it was certainly that. It was more to emphasize that he thought on a level beyond others. And now he appears to believe he's unlocked the secrets of the universe... and, as per above, he hasn't managed to figure out that it's a really old story that is, in fact, about him, just not in the way he thinks it is.
God, I hope nobody shows him The Matrix.
I'm trying to come up with a question for which that would have been an appropriate answer, and I got nuthin. Only a very casual fan, but very happy that the C's didn't trade for him.View: https://twitter.com/NYPost_Lewis/status/1588538392446652417?s=20&t=Lq0DIjgr8mNObbqjJjucug
