What’s the likely cost of cutting him and paying an injury settlement? Seems it’d be worth it from the Bucs’ perspective. Getting into some protracted food fight with AB don’t seem wise. Cut the chord, both sides take their medicine and move on.
Sure. But HIPPA does.HIPAA doesn’t prevent AB or his friends from saying anything.
I've seen a lot of people on Twitter running with this. I get it. But at the same time, these are crazy freak athletes and I think even in the worst of "can't go in the game" sorta pain, it's not crazy to think they can hop skip and jump their way off the field. He was probably so riled up at that point and did it anyway, assuming he was also in a lot of pain.Wait didn’t he look pretty spry running and jumping off the field?
Not to mention the "potentially dangerous" painkillerI've seen a lot of people on Twitter running with this. I get it. But at the same time, these are crazy freak athletes and I think even in the worst of "can't go in the game" sorta pain, it's not crazy to think they can hop skip and jump their way off the field. This is sarcasm right?Yeah, HIPPA will prevent the doctor, AB, the Bucs, the NFL, or any of AB’s associates from saying anything about any medical treatment or diagnosis. Sucks.
Depends on whether or not you’re a covered entity. This is sarcasm right?
yes. He was joking about the use of HIPPA instead of the actual HIPAA.This is sarcasm right?
It’s fine. I’ve provided extremely infrequent HIPAA legal advice to covered entities during the course of my career and I generally have to look everything up each time and double check my memos/emails for correct acronym usage throughout.yes. He was joking about the use of HIPPA instead of the actual HIPAA.
To be fair , even as an MD, I need to use ‘HIPAA is not a HIPPO’ to get it right.
edit - sorry @Preacher for ruining it. Or around here, Roethlisberging it
My old boss was friends with Belichick. They went to Wesleyan together. We know even less about what motivates Bill Belichick, but I wouldn't be surprised if his thoughts were similar. This is what he's devoted his life to. As long as he's one of the best in the world at it and has fun doing it, why stop?
When the head coach has just told you are off the team? What the hell is the trainer going to do?Ok, if he’s actually hurt, what’s the rationale for doing what he did? Wouldn’t you just seek out a trainer, or head to the locker room and talk about to later? Seems like an odd reaction, to say the least.
You’re expecting rational action from an irrational actor? That seems like an odd reaction.Ok, if he’s actually hurt, what’s the rationale for doing what he did? Wouldn’t you just seek out a trainer, or head to the locker room and talk about to later? Seems like an odd reaction, to say the least.
He didn’t cut him mid-game.When the head coach has just told you are off the team? What the hell is the trainer going to do?
Brown obviously isnt exactly mentally stable, but if Arians cut him mid game for not going in while hurt, a blow-up isnt exactly completely unreasonable either. Basically Arians is a moron hothead.
Yes I know. I wasnt being precise, but the personal impact is the same whether he formally cut him or informed him was no longer on the team. Based on the reporting, Arians told Brown he was off the team if he didnt play.He didn’t cut him mid-game.
MRI don't lie but it's also not not a binary test that spits out "the answer".MRI don’t lie.
They specifically address this in the statement. It's actually a very plausible explanation. We can choose to believe it or not. Part of the problem is that it's coming from AB.I was referring specifically to him blaming Arians for not helping him off the sideline.
There are no disinterested actors in any of the explanations we are getting for what happened. They specifically address this in the statement. It's actually a very plausible explanation. We can choose to believe it or not. Part of the problem is that it's coming from AB.
such a great scene"You thinking what I'm thinking partner?"
"Aim for the bushes."
There goes my hero.......
No team, including the Patriots, wants the NFL to investigate injury stuff too close.I look forward to the NFL's investigation into the fact that Brown wasn't on the injury report last week. I am sure it will be just like the investigation they performed when Tampa didn't list Brady on the injury report at all last season, despite the fact that he actually did have an injury that required surgery.
In ABs mind it appears to be part of the grand conspiracy to take money from him, which includes TB12, Guerrero and the Bucs - “must be apart of these guys plans all along”Guerrero seems to be willing to re-pay the money and responded to the text pretty cordially. I'm not sure I get the point of that tweet.
He's lashing out. That's what he does. He did it to Kraft. He did it to the Steelers when Smith-Shuster(?) got the team MVP. At best, he's off-the-scale immature. Not sure I understand the Guerrero angle. Looks like he paid the money back to Brown.
The Arians texts seem photoshopped. That reads like a script.
Yeah I mean unless it's your first time communicating with someone who starts a text conversation by introducing themselves? Very odd. He's lashing out. That's what he does. He did it to Kraft. He did it to the Steelers when Smith-Shuster(?) got the team MVP. At best, he's off-the-scale immature.
I do not believe that the texts are real.
Nor do I believe that Arians was "acting alone," in the sense of he probably had info from team trainers about where AB was physically. How many times have we heard BB respond to a "how's the hurt guy doing," with: 1)"we'll follow the injury report rules"; 2) "he's working with the trainers and doctors"; and 3) "if they say he can play, he'll play." An accusation that the head coach made a unilateral injury call like that, mid-game, with no signs of trainer or doctor involvement, sounds about as plausible to me as accusing the head coach of making shitty Gatorade. It's possible, but very very unlikely. I'm really not sure why anyone would believe anything AB says about anything.
Old dude, old school. Some older people still send texts with some kind of signature. Love, Mom.Yeah I mean unless it's your first time communicating with someone who starts a text conversation by introducing themselves? Very odd.
Sincerely,Old dude, old school. Some older people still send texts with some kind of signature. Love, Mom.
There's nothing bad, but apparently Arians said that he didn't know about AB's ankle. The texts, if true, show he did.I don't know how anyone can believe anything AB says. The guy has a multi-year track record of blowing shit up and lying about it, and I don't think there's even anything bad in those texts even if they're real. AB looks really dumb here in my opinion.
yes?I don't know Bruce Arians. But does anyone believe that he doesn't know the difference between your and you're, would put ARE NOT in all caps, and would discuss active roster issues over text?
I don't know what to believe anymore but this is supposedly the first text from his coach he's received in a long time that Ariens needs to make sure AB knows who it is and refers to himself as "BA"?I don't know Bruce Arians. But does anyone believe that he doesn't know the difference between your and you're, would put ARE NOT in all caps, and would discuss active roster issues over text?
Does it? He says "be ready to go" and "we're not resting" but he doesn't mention the ankle or any injury specifically. It actually almost seems crafted to avoid any specific mention of an injury in case AB pulled some shit like this. Much like Tony Soprano would mention "the guy" who needs to bring over "ten boxes of ziti" over the phone. There's nothing bad, but apparently Arians said that he didn't know about AB's ankle. The texts, if true, show he did.
