Cousins is a top 5 big man in his absolute prime. This is exactly the player you use the 2017 Nets pick on. It's a lot harder to find a quality big man than it is a good guard. If there were a Davis, Towns, or Embiid in this draft, I'd feel differently. The real question for me is what else Sac would want. No way on the 2018 Nets pick. If they asked for Brown + 2017 Nets, I think about it but probably pull the trigger.

“@ChrisMannixYS: Tyreke Evans ($10.2 million expiring contract) has been discussed in a potential Kings-Pelicans swap, league source tells @TheVertical.”

The Lakers refuse to move Ingram for cousins. OK then. Madness.

The Celtics not involved? Madness.

The kings trading their best player by far for picks and youth when they have traded a pick swap and an unprotected first. Also madness.

None of this makes any sense. So it will probably happen.

If the offer is really two picks + Hield, then there is no fucking way you have to include Brown or any other asset of much value to the 2017 pick

Sources: Kings, Lakers discussed parameters on Cousins deal in past 48 hours, but Sacramento ended talks in late afternoon. Pels are focus.

Kings wanted Brandon Ingram in a trade package for Cousins, but Lakers refused to include him, league sources tell @TheVertical.
What in the world is going on here? Did Demarcus take a dump on Viveks' desk before heading to the All Star game? How can they be locked in on that terrible Pelicans offer?

Unless they're trying to strong arm Demarcus into extending for less than the absolute max, or he had something horrendous happen off the court, even considering this offer would be madness.

It's almost as if the rest of the league has figured out the guy is a head case.
Pels will need a new coach. Gentry can't handle him.

Amazing. Cousins would have definitely made the Lakers lose their pick this year, so it's not just Ingram. But that NO deal is so awful.

As a sixers fan .
Pants are off! I mean they have to tank now this year, with a pick swap!

And that unprotected 2019 is (close to the lakers the sixers already have) only behind the nets picks in terms of valuable asset

Rumors are it's the exact deal I speculated upthread:
Boogie for Tyreke's expiring, Hield and 2 1sts.

That is an awful awful trade by SAC.

I was literally in the middle of posting "I bet if you're Vlade, you think Buddy Hield is great, and a chance to get a possible #1 overall pick back for Cousins..."

Yeah but they have a high chance of losing it anyway! And if they keep it, it becomes unprotected next year, and they don't have an easy path to improvement.

I don't know what the Celtics are doing not beating that
It would seem that the repeated stories that Ainge and Stevens don't want Cousins are true. I can kind of understand it. You're the 2 seed in the east, have likely top 5 picks next two years, Cousins has a long history of being a problem, and long-term his fit with Horford may be dubious... why make that your big swing.

Whoa; credit to New Orleans I guess because up until this point they have looked completely out of control with the exception of being fortuitous enough to suck when Davis was in the draft.

What it is clear is that people in the league aka people who know more inside stories--were not interested in Cousins coming to their team. Nobody denies he isn't a great talent and he could really dominate for New Orleans, but his personality has just been too explosive so that many smart, accomplished NBA executives stayed away from him. I think it's a bit telling that a team that necessarily hasn't made the best personal decisions in the past traded for him.

Pels will re-sign Holiday now and hope they eventually find a SF because they sure as hell won't be drafting one.

What other chance does NO have to add serious talent besides taking a risk like this though? Late end lottery picks? They are exactly the team that should be gambling with Cousins if his issues are that bad. The Celtics have plenty of ways to add talent.

So if the Lakers actually had the right to their pick this year, DeMarcus would potentially be a Laker right now.

I think most in the league took a deep breath and said... at the end of the day I just don't want to deal with this guy. $16 million dollar head ache. Pass.

Apparently that was the case and I was flat out wrong about him being a target of Ainge's. I just don't get it. I clearly don't see as much of a problem playing him next to Horford and if anyone can figure the rotations out, its Stevens. I know Cousins yelled at a Warriors fan a few weeks ago and gets T'd up like he cannot get enough but the guy plays hard and is such a talent. The C's could have easily beat that deal.

So Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, ONE first round pick, a second round pick, and Tyreke Evans contract to match for Demarcus.

Holy shit.

I'm as low on Demarcus as anybody, but I'd have never guessed an offer that weak would be accepted, and not topped by any other team in the league.

This cat must be the absolute worst to deal with.

The sixers have
1) Lakers top 3 protected this year, if top three, unprotected 2018
2) their own pick with a Kings pick swap this year
3) Kings 2019 unprotected

On top of Noel, embiid, simmons, Saric and other pieces like tlc, korkmaz, Covington etc. Under the floor.

And Okafor to trade for whatever. Nothing is fine.

Hinkie has done more to help the sixers this year after leaving than colangelo has.
