Golden State are playing a Grizzlies game right now (close, sloppy, physical and low scoring) in Memphis but Steph Curry just banked in a three. I mean, WTF?

Houston should not be mentioned in the same breath with the other WC teams. They are NOT a contender. What a pathetic showing tonight. Fuck them.

How is it that Houston is the only team so far who couldn't bear down and run the Nets off the court? Even the Lakers made it look easy. Little early in the season to play down to a bottom three team and try to do just enough to win.

Poor Memphis ... they've got to be seeing Curry half-court prayers in their nightmares.

Prayers aside, it's kinda hard to compete with the Warriors when you make 23 field goals ... the entire game.

Barnes and Ezeli both looking improved this season, which I'm sure is thrilling news for the rest of the NBA.

(In other news: my wife thinks Dave Joerger is DeJesus Built My Hotrod.)

I think Golden State would realistically break the 72 win record. Granted I don't really think they should try, but they look a level better than every other good team in the league.

I don't really agree that LaVine looks promising

I have them at 30:1 to do just this.

So does that mean we can get angry Bowiac because GS benched Curry for an April 12th game against Sacramento?

Well we are alike in that we both have round heads, short hair-cuts, stocky builds and scowl a lot (though tonight mine was the inverse of his). I wish I had his paycheck though.

The Grizzlies are interesting - its early on of course but they are an "old" team (technically they are the fifth oldest team in the league behind the Spurs, the Mavs, the Heat and the Clippers) and it seems like its starting to show. ZBo looks slower and Jeff Green looks cooked though I know he can look awful one game and amazing the next and Matt Barnes frantic style of play, which earned him a place in the league, may have caught up with him as well. If that is the case, its unfortunate for Big Spain, who may have missed a chance to play on a true contender. Its awesome that he showed commitment to his "hometown" but he is a great player who may never sniff a championship now.

Towns and Wiggins are going to be a force in very short order. They may legitimately be a seventh or eighth seed in the West this season.

75 points in the first half is inexcusable no matter who you are playing, but the fact that they are not out of the game yet is impressive for a team that young.

Curry with a garden variety 46 points on 25 fga to lead the sluggish Ws past the pesky Wolves (second game of a road B2B for the Ws).

Warriors 10-0.

One interesting Warriors wrinkle this year: with Curry giving up the ball quicker when he's blitzed, Draymond Green is leading the team in assists (second-best PG ever from Michigan State?) while Curry is leading the league in hockey assists (plus scoring, threes, steals, FT%, highlight reel plays, etc. etc.)

This season only further confirms my sense that the two guys from Akron, OH (Curry and LeBron) would probably be the greatest two-player combo in NBA history.

Walton has to find a way to get Curry more rest. He is currently averaging over a minute more per game than last year. Those minutes will add up toward the end of the year. Klay snapping out of his funk would make sitting Curry easier. Of course, they play Brooklyn next, so Curry should be able to sit the whole 4th quarter.

Perusing the upcoming schedule:
NETS
TOR
@LAC
v. CHI (back to back)
@DEN
LAL
@PHX
v. SAC (back to back)
@UTAH
@CHA
@TOR
@NETS
@IND
@BOS
@MIL (back to back)
PHX
MIL
UTAH
CLE (Xmas Day)

Between the @LAC-v.CHI back-to-back and that long road trip, I can't imagine they'll be perfect going into their Christmas Day game v. Cleveland. But I don't imagine they'll be considered the underdog in any game they play for the remainder of 2016 (barring injury).

When they clinch the West in January he can rest Curry all he wants.

Are we really pondering the possibility that the Warriors might be undefeated on Xmas (28-0)? Haha.

They've actually been tested in a few games lately; I'm almost certain they'll drop at least a couple before then.

On Curry's workload: agreed that he's been relied on a bit more heavily than he was last season, but he's still only at 34.3 mpg -- four mpg less than his career-high, and five mpg less than Harden is now averaging. And you know at season's end the "Harden for MVP" crowd will be pointing madly at the bigger per game numbers he'll have racked up in those extra five minutes.

Steph's 27 and in great shape. I'm not too worried yet, though if he gets a couple more 38-minute games against mediocre teams, I may become mildly concerned.

Curry has regressed from his early season heights ... a little. Through 10 games (per 36 mins., 34.3 mpg):

35.0 pts
.709 ts (.600 2fg / .473 3fg / .926 ft)
5.6 reb
5.9 ast
2.7 stl
3.1 tov

Leads NBA in points, threes (duh), and steals.

Ten games (343 minutes) is getting to be a pretty solid sample. Still early times, but for the time being he seems in the midst of one of great seasons in the modern hoops era.

Are you guys really concerned about a guy in his young prime avg 34 mpg? That is a little extreme as he's playing regular rotation minutes plus sitting out some 4th quarters due to the score or at exerting little energy when he's out there with a 20-point 4th quarter lead.

Celts now 4-4 against what I think has been a hard schedule. They only played really well in the sixers and bullets games so things are looking good. Tough road trip coming up. If they come out of November around .500 that will be great

Amazing that no matter how bad the Kings are, I'd still bet on them not having to swap any picks with Philly.

And boy are they bad. Run around on D, doing whatever on O, careless with the ball. Just a bizarre team.

Boogie is no joke though. This is a four play sequence that just happened:

Boogie sinks elbow J
Boogie sinks a three
Boogie pump fakes a three and dribble drives for a layup
Boogie pump fakes a J and drives for a slam.

He will look even better doing that in Celtic Green.

I disagree that they are bad at all much less of boy are they bad variety. The Kings are 3-3 with Cousins and competitive in all 3 losses. They were hammered each game without Cousins and are clearly two different teams with and without him. If he remains healthy this team is going to contend for a playoff spot.

To be fair, I was posting in a fit of "why aren't they destroying the Nets" anger. Cousins completely changed the game pretty much singlehandedly. Really opened things up for Sacto.

Ah gotcha.
It was the same reason why the Sixers were beating the Spurs in the first half. Teams are already laying down early when one of these teams come into town. There will always be games over the course of 82 when teams don't show up to play.....the T-Wolves were up 30 in Atlanta the other night. It's a long marathon of a season and game-to-game variance means little to nothing. As you said once Cousins woke up he took over the game.

This is hardly newsworthy, but my god Austin Rivers is terrible. Dribbling aimlessly, bricking threes, unforced turnovers. Brutal.

What in the fuck is going on with Houston? They are down 25 to the Mavs with 4 minutes left in the first half

Edit: Ho Lee Chit, I just realized Houstons jerseys say "clutch". We definitely are living in a simulation

Nets playing like rabid dogs. GS not matching them yet and hasn't played a lick of D. Bench time is usually sad time for Brooklyn so we'll see if they can keep it up on the second night of a b2b.

The Dubs look like hot garbage tonight. Their defense looks pitiful and Draymond is having a mediocre game. They are going to wind up playing Curry big minutes to beat the Nets.

To Lionel Hollins's great credit, he decided to hound Steph with a double team all night, and the rest of the Warriors were awful when left open.
To Lionel Hollins's great detriment, he failed to foul anyone when down 3 with only a few seconds left rather than allowing the Warriors to shoot a 3. Very dumb.

Keep it up, Dubs. Keep scoring until every flannel shirt and artisanal bakery in Brooklyn is ablaze.

Robin Lopez missed a point-blank-range tip-in at the buzzer in regulation, and the Warriors crushed the Nets in OT. In defense of Lopez, Bogut was literally and figuratively undressing him on the missed tip-in.

I mean holy shit. Here I was shitting all over the Rockets for losing to BKNY and I missed the larger point. They are, Holly Holm-style giant slayers.

Porzingis with 29-11 in a Knicks win. This rookie class kicks ass.

Flipped on the Atlanta/Brooklyn game to root for my second favorite team(whoever is playing the Nets). The Barclays Center is empty. I can't imagine what it's going to look like in a couple of months. Or a couple of years.
You forgot the part where the Nets somehow won the game. As an actual Hawks fan, I need to drink a couple of bottles of Nyquil after that one.

His shot's coming around, and he's a lot stronger already than I think anybody expected him to be. He's aggressive on the offensive glass, can get his shot off against anybody, and is shockingly athletic for somebody his size. I have a lot of trouble coming up with comps for him when I watch him play, but Pau Gasol is a reasonably good one, though I think he's a better perimeter scorer already than Gasol ever was. Early on, the comp was Bargnani, but I think Porzingis has already shown himself to be a better post player and rebounder, thank god.

Hilarious that Knicks fans booed what might be their best draft pick in a decade. Porzingis is going to be a keeper.

Pau Nowitzki Olajuwon? I see a combination of all three in his game with the latter something that he will really be able to improve upon once he adds lower body strength. If he can avoid the dreaded "7-1 and up foot injury" the Knicks have hit a home run here.
