I think they can make it if they add more time for makeup games on the back end. Otherwise, no, I don't think there is enough flexibility in the schedule to manage another team-wide schedule suspension.

They can make it if the league can figure out how to account for unplayed games in the final standings. If MLB is willing to compare the records of teams that have played 60 games and of teams that have played 30-40 games - probably by raw winning percentage, but other options are possible (e.g., see my recent post in the other thread) - then there's no reason not to let a team take two weeks off in quarantine. If the league isn't willing to stomach that sort of discrepancy, it's screwed...but this season is weird enough, and the financial stakes are high enough, that I think MLB will try and muddle through even if multiple teams have to go into quarantine, and even if that produces all sorts of fairness and balance issues in determining who makes it into the playoffs. Which is why I chose option 2 in the poll.

Voted season shut down within the month, but I bet it happens faster... maybe not in the next week, but probably in the next two.

Before the season actually started, I was betting on it lasting two weeks. I voted 'within the month' but I think two weeks is still about right.

There
In a poll asking, "Will MLB make it to September?" a choice of "No, season cancelled in September/October" does not compute.

since they were going full on circus act from jump street, they should have done ties instead of the new extra innings rules. Then if your game gets cancelled, both teams get a half point; full point for winning the HR derby after that.

I gotta say, I'm pretty shocked they are likely making it to September 1st, recent protests aside. I don't think they'll be enough to torpedo the season.

I figured after the Marlins fiasco, there was no way things didn't fall apart pretty quickly. Now, it feels entirely possible they get this ridiculous season done without any issues that derail things entirely. Didn't see that coming, but hey it'll be good for the Sox luxury tax or whatever.
