Ah West Ham. A wild and disappointing league campaign in 22-23 was redeemed by the first trophy in 43 years from winning the Conference League.

Seems like just the setup for a great offseason right.... Have some young talent that came in last season in Scamacca and Paqueta, Bowen is on his game... rest of the squad is aging a bit outside the centerbacks, but while Rice is sure to move, he'll net 100m, so put it to good use.... and West Ham are finally making it to the 21st century by hiring a Technical Director....

Oh how naive.

Rice is gone for his record fee..... and nobody has been signed.

The Board has not given the TD authority to overrule Moyes, but neither is Moyes in charge. Two men with different philosophies, just fucking everything up left and right.

Scamacca sold back to Italy for a wash after he didn't want to stay.

Edson Alvarez might be incoming.....

Moyes is chasing English players on the wrong side of the aging curve (and also who aren't very good) in Harry Maguire and James Ward-Prowse.

A deal for young talent Borges from Man City was close to done... then he signed for Ajax.

Bowen has refused all extension talks, and now the Brazilian papers say Man City is making a bid for Paqueta.

The squad looks to be gutted and the lame duck manager is pushing hard for aging PL veterans with no upside to be brought in. Any player who might break 70 on pace in FIFA is crossed off the manager's list.

A complete clusterfuck, but the owner is too much of a coward to sack the manager who won a trophy, and there is zero plan.

West Ham are signing James Ward-Prowse and Harry Maguire for a combined 60M.

Just infuriating. Selling players in their early 20s to buy players at or approaching 30 who aren't as good. It's a masterclass in the exact opposite of how a club should do business.

So deflating. Would rather have liked them spend 20M on three young guns for depth and keep the rest than throwing it away, especially when some of it is going to Utd

Well, we got classic Moyes today after Bowen put us up 1-0. My bright sides: Soucek looks better so far than he did last year. Paqueta played hard and played well (I was wondering if he'd play at all and if he did whether he'd put anything into it considering he wants out). And... well, fuck. A draw that felt like a loss even though I was anticipating a loss.

West Ham sign James Ward-Prowse. I think this is a good signing.

West Ham United have signed midfielder James Ward-Prowse from Southampton for a fee thought to be in the region of £30m.
The England international, 28, has joined the Hammers on a four-year deal.
Ward-Prowse joined Southampton at the age of eight and made 410 senior appearances as well as captaining the club, who were relegated to the Championship last season.
"I'm buzzing to be here at West Ham United," he said.

Ward Prowse si! Maguire no!
Apparently this is now the club’s position on Maguire, they’re tired of waiting for him to negotiate a final payout with United, which he wants given he’ll be on lower wages at West Ham:
Harry Maguire’s £30m move to West Ham has collapsed after the club grew tired of waiting for the defender to agree his exit from Manchester United. Although there is a chance the deal could be revived, it is not going ahead at the moment.

West Ham have grown frustrated over the delay and are looking at alternative optionsin central defence. Maguire had settled personal terms with West Ham but the club have been waiting for the England international to agree a pay-off from United.

The 30-year-old received a considerable salary increase as a result of United qualifying for the Champions League and would be on less money at West Ham. He is thought to want about £7m to leave Old Trafford.

Once again, Maguire's lack of speed and poor decision-making come back to haunt him.
